Back-to-School Mental Health Edition š
As Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and practice owner Cassie Bozard heads back to school herself to continue pursuing her doctorate degree, she wanted to take a moment to share a few important mental health reminders for parents and caregivers.
āThe start of a new school year brings excitement, but it can also bring anxiety, academic pressure, social challenges, and big emotions for our children. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is listen, ask questions, be present, and remind them that asking for help is a strength.
Encourage your children to grow and reach their potential, but remember that success looks different for every child. Pay attention when anxiety begins interfering with daily functioning, and never hesitate to reach out to a mental health professional when additional support is needed.
Most importantly, make time to check in. Sometimes 20 intentional minutes with your child can tell you more than you realize.
Hereās to a healthy, successful school year, for our kids, our families, and even those of us heading back to school ourselves.ā
