The Quietus House

The Quietus House End-Of-Life services: pre- planning, legacy building, bedside support and family support. Grief support That the world was experiencing death alone.

A Message From Carin, Founder, and CEO

I am a death doula and a registered nurse. I generate conversations about death and dying that actually have the clients and their families can be fully expressed with their wishes, desires, and concerns. I facilitate funeral arrangements and assist with paperwork around POA and HCA. (Power of Attorney and Healthcare Agent) Create and design legacy projects

using various media as a self-expression and remembrance for generations to come. I talk openly and candidly and honestly about death and dying such that people have power and peace with that process. I sit at the bedside to care for the person in transition. Coordinate care with hospice teams and medical professionals. I create and hold a space where love and loss can coexist. How Quietus House Came To Be:

I was really struck at a core level, during the pandemic and how people were unable to be with their loved ones. Because I am a nurse, I was able to gain access to nursing homes and be with people when they hadn't been with the family for months. I knew then I wanted to do something about people dying alone. or people dying without having the opportunity to be at peace. I was speaking to a friend about it and she mentioned the term death doula and it was like a pure knowing or sense that that was where I needed to go. Behind the scenes I am --
Always looking/researching alternatives to traditional burials/funerals
Creating ceremonies to celebrate life. Collaborating with artists to facilitate events that help to process grief. Creating a grief Festival
Learning about different cultures and their practices

My business means that people have a choice around the way they get to celebrate their life. I get to be a contribution to humanity in a big way. Maybe even shift the context around death and dying in the world. My business is my heart and it's out there on display.

No one should be alone to process their grief while navigating the end of life. Companionship is often overlooked, but reminiscing, listening to music, preparing meals, and talking are all ways to find comfort, healing, and the words you need.
