Wholeness is often misunderstood.

In modern culture, the word can sound like a final state—something polished, stable, and perfected. A version of ourselves that has resolved all its wounds and contradictions. Wholeness means something far more human.

It means nothing within us needs to be avoided, suppressed, or denied.

The anxious part. The perfectionist that believes our worth depends on getting everything right. The protector that learned to stay vigilant. The tender younger parts that still carry the memory of earlier hurts.

When we listen and attune, we begin to notice that our inner world is not a single voice. It is more like a community. ✨Continue reading on Substack✨

Hello Dear Ones,

It is a very intense time in the world right now, in almost every dimension. In the wider field of turbulence, war, loss, and uncertainty—alongside the strange acceleration of technology and AI—it is not uncommon to feel heavy, foggy, overwhelmed, or quietly untethered from ourselves.

When the outer world becomes this loud and complex, our inner world can easily become harder to hear.

And yet this is often the moment when self-awareness becomes most essential. ✨ Continue reading and share your thoughts on Substack ✨

Hello dear ones. I’m writing this from my purple sofa, Olivia on one side and Max on the other. Olivia’s small warm body curves into my hip. Max leans his golden retriever weight against my leg, occasionally lifting his big eyes to meet mine — a clear signal that it’s dinner time. These are intimate moments. Still. Gentle. Close. Loving.

But intimacy isn’t always quiet, or at home.

Recently, I was at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, in an exuberant crowd singing joyously to Super Diamond — an amazing Neil Diamond tribute band I have followed since my days living in San Francisco.

The night was an experience of collective effervescence. Strangers danced shoulder to shoulder. Voices rose together in something between shared memory and celebration. That, too, was intimacy.

The sofa. The concert hall.
Soft fur. Amplified guitars.

Intimacy is not about volume or setting. It is about presence — being close enough to life to actually feel it. And that is where this series begins. ✨Continue Reading on Substack✨

Rumi wrote,

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”

This field — of awareness, of belonging, of steady heart — is what equanimity really is. It isn’t cool indifference, but a courageous intimacy with everything.

Change isn’t loss — it’s light, rearranged

Calm is a reminder of who we truly are at our core: steady, spacious, capable of holding whatever arises. Even amid change, loss, or uncertainty, tranquility is accessible. It is a form of self-compassion, and a soft, steady undercurrent beneath life’s waves — the tranquility of calm abiding in body, heart and mind.

This week I bring you the third factor of awakening: energy.

Think of it less as something to generate or strive for, and more as a quiet current already moving through you — an animating life force that stirs awake when your attention brushes up against something that matters. Energy is the body and mind remembering, together, how to be fully alive.

This is the heart of it: energy cannot be commanded. It cannot be bullied into existence. Energy arrives naturally when the conditions of care are present — when we show up with curiosity, tenderness, and a willingness to attune.

Have you ever walked into a forest and noticed how children move differently than adults? While we might label the trees—oak, maple, pine—a child is running their fingers along the bark, crouching down to peer at ants carrying food, listening for a bird call. Where the adult says, “tree,” the child says, “look!”

How much of that child-like curious mind is still alive in you?
