I got to spend some time in the mountains with one of my most favorite families in the whole world. Their family just keeps growing and adding extras and others on setting out on great adventures of their lifetimes..... I'm just really proud that I got to be a part of it, just a little, for allllll these years! And also... I just have to say.... being the baby of this family is such a prime position to have! SO LOVED and protected!

This sweet boy has spent time in front of my camera since he was born (are you all seeing a trend the last few years?) He's so kind and pretty soft spoken and gentle and if we would could all take a moment and give some appreciation for his AMAZING hair! The nostalgic vibes it has makes me pretty happy.

She's the spitting image of her mother at her age, I know that because I've known her mother since we were 12. This sweet girl is feisty and determined and hard working. You can see her marching this week in the parades. And even though she's pretty tiny... she carries that drum like a boss.

In the summer in Wyoming, you can never really predict the weather... only that it's going to be unpredictable.
On my way to this shoot I drove straight into a flood filled storm. I just had to pray that I wouldn't hydroplane in the middle 20 semis. I went from 90 degree heat and sunshine to downpour and fog. Not awesome. When I got to my destination I had to play it cool and do my job. That being said, I was able to shoot in between storms and it was so incredible. I got dark cloud filled skies and corn fields.... I couldn't ask for a better back drop.
He's the last of his siblings to graduate, which means it was last time photographing a senior for this family. I've been working with them for 10 years now, and getting to know them has been so wonderful!

I walked into their house, and into their living room, and in that living room was an ENITRE WALL of gallery sized canvases of photos I had taken. One or two from each shoot. I started when she was a newborn. And now... not a graduate, but not far off. This is the absolute best part of my job. And I have huge soft spot for fiery red heads!

Over the years my world comes full circle every now and again. 25 or 30 years will have passed and all of a sudden I'm shooting children of high school classmates. It's surreal to say the least. And it's really wonderful to see what kind of parents we've become and what we've done with our lives.
I headed to the mountains a couple weeks ago to meet up with this one, and holy cow did she make my job easy!

I cried the day he was born. As soon as I stepped into the hospital room. I had laid in bed with his mother for weeks before he was born. Making sure she had enough snacks and company. And now... he's graduating.
He's slow talking. And ornery. And sweet and kind.
And did I mention he's graduating! (time does funny things like... fly by when you don't want it to)
I'm so proud of him and the kind of young man he's become.

When you live in Wyoming... you get to take family photos like this. It's the essence of where I live and what I get to do... and this is what it actually looks like. We're a special bunch... those of us that live here. The weather doesn't make it easy..... but it's a beautiful life.

Winter in Wyoming.... it's headshot season for me. I'm finding a lot of companies need what I loving call "kindergarten shots"... meaning a very plain background and chest up, but still with some personality. I tend to gravitate toward black and white, but I understand the need for color. HOWEVER...marketing yourself with a plain backdrop, sometimes doesn't cut it, so I try to do an inside shot and if weather permits, outside as well. Hit me up if you need them! It's the perfect time!

Dear Friends....
I finally am back in computer land
Tiptoeing in.

I finally got a calendar. Yes, I am very old fashioned when it comes to this stuff, mostly because after 18 years of shooting, I have learned that real things and conversations are way more important. Making myself sit down and look at an actual calendar creates a good routine and boundaries that I think need to be practiced a little bit more.

Do I lose clients? Probably.

We need to slow down. Be patient. Be calm.

So guys.... yes I'm booking for the year!
I have stepped away from making people book a year in advance. Creating that sense of urgency just makes people crazy. Things will change and we live in Wyoming... the weather patterns alone are enough to drive a person mad! However, my calendar is open, and I will say fall spots fill pretty quickly, so if you're up to it, hit me up, if not we'll talk about different times!
Seniors... let's think about those times and places, deadlines are normally late October, which means, since I still edit all my own photos.... will need them done by the beginning of October.

If we ever get snow... I have a snow list. If you are on it, you already know. If not, you can always be added
