Winter in Wyoming.... it's headshot season for me. I'm finding a lot of companies need what I loving call "kindergarten shots"... meaning a very plain background and chest up, but still with some personality. I tend to gravitate toward black and white, but I understand the need for color. HOWEVER...marketing yourself with a plain backdrop, sometimes doesn't cut it, so I try to do an inside shot and if weather permits, outside as well. Hit me up if you need them! It's the perfect time!

I finally am back in computer land
Tiptoeing in.

I finally got a calendar. Yes, I am very old fashioned when it comes to this stuff, mostly because after 18 years of shooting, I have learned that real things and conversations are way more important. Making myself sit down and look at an actual calendar creates a good routine and boundaries that I think need to be practiced a little bit more.

Do I lose clients? Probably.

We need to slow down. Be patient. Be calm.

So guys.... yes I'm booking for the year!
I have stepped away from making people book a year in advance. Creating that sense of urgency just makes people crazy. Things will change and we live in Wyoming... the weather patterns alone are enough to drive a person mad! However, my calendar is open, and I will say fall spots fill pretty quickly, so if you're up to it, hit me up, if not we'll talk about different times!
Seniors... let's think about those times and places, deadlines are normally late October, which means, since I still edit all my own photos.... will need them done by the beginning of October.

If we ever get snow... I have a snow list. If you are on it, you already know. If not, you can always be added

In my mind I call them my legacy babies. The beautiful kids I've been photographing since they were born. She was my 5th one this past summer. I remember vividly her newborn photos. And not only have I been photographing her... I've had the honor of photographing all of her cousins. This job I have never ceases to amaze me.
Now my friends..... I think I need to start getting back into the baby business. What do you think?

She is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met. Inside and out. I cannot describe how she makes you feel when you are around her. Incredible. Like sunshine hits you with her giggle.
I dipped my toes back in. I need to.
There are new babies coming all around me.
And I can't help it... I want to be a little part of it.
And then maybe eventually watch them graduate...
because you know, I kind of like to do that.
But please, god, be slower this time. It's hard in the beginning.... but I know all too well... you don't really care about it when you hold them. Love to you my friend.

I've had a lot of sessions in these past couple years that tug at my heart strings....this one I literally cried after.
He was the first baby I ever photographed and got paid for. He made me a photographer. When you're first starting out, at least for me, it took me a very, very long time to actually call myself that. But now... I proudly do. And these kids are killing me right now.
I love that his eyes are exactly the same as when he was born. I love that his hair got curly. I love that he hugs me when I leave.
I always wanted to document history. With a camera. I just didn't expect it to be this way.... and the pure joy in it, knowing these kids and watching them navigate their paths... my heart is full.

I had intended to post these on opening day this past weekend.... but sometimes my intentions don't happen. This sweet boy, I've seen through all the stages, and these last few years have been...to say the least.... emotional.
He's one of my firsts.....
He holds a sign at every Wyoming Football Game. He's been publicized nationally. And locally a million times.
I have witnessed him growing taller than his mom and now taller that his dad (I hated to break that news after I took the photo)
He's the sweetest. He's an only child. And watching his mom break into tears was a really a hard thing to control my own emotions over, because my empathy level skyrocketed at that moment. Only's are different. I don't know how to say it better.
I've loved watching you grow up kiddo..... and I love looking up to you!

When you grow up and your family scatters all over the country, it's always a good idea to get photos with all of you together. And in the summer it's the best! It took me two years WAY back when to convince this family they needed photos..... and since then they have been addicted. I got to shoot all the senior photos. And now I get to get grown up photos. And I totally keep up with allllll of them.

So......here's the thing. I get really emotional while editing photos sometimes. I can hold it together through a shoot, but when I'm going through all these photos and all these lives that I get to be a part of, like forever.... I get a little emotional. This family, any one of them, I know I can call, text, find them for whatever reason. And I met them through my lens. That's it. I am genuinely worried and wondering how they are. The multiple hugs I get after these sessions.... incredible. To this beautiful family, sending you all my love and can't wait for all the next things to come.

In all the years I've been shooting this kid.... never once has he EVER complained. He does all the crazy things I ask him to. He's truly one of the most polite, soft spoken (at least around me) well rounded kids I know. And of course to carry on family tradition... we had to have a massive jump in the middle of the shoot!
