When you've been shooting a family for about 20 years, you get to know them really well. The kids leave. They come home. They leave. They get married.... and now I'm just waiting for the babies, because then, if I'm really lucky I get to start capturing the next generation. I cannot wait for that! Even if you move away... I will find a way!

There's almost always a history with my clients and friends. If there isn't at the start... there will be. That's how I work, connection beyond taking photos... is what means the most to me.

I played volleyball for years with his mom. She stood next to me when my physical life changed in a matter of seconds. And while we were trying our best to be active moms... we also watched each other's kids grow into adults and almost graduates. Those babies were at the gym supporting us and we sat in the stands supporting them. Just at a little bit different times.

This kiddo.. is so sweet. He is so well spoken. His demeanor is calm. Completely driven in his endeavors...and dang he's a good looking senior.

We got teary eyed together at the end of the shoot. Walked arm and arm...... Because that's what moms do. You walk arm and arm together. And you take pictures of their handsome/ beautiful children.

In the last two weeks, I've had 4 very good friends and clients lose their parents.

I'm kind of out words for what to say.
Except this. I LOVE my job. As sad as it is sometimes, I am beyond honored to be part of peoples lives. Even just for a moment. To make people hug each other. Even when they don't want to. To smile. Even though it's hard sometimes. Believe me I understand.
I will never say you need to hire a professional, but I will always tell you TAKE THE PICTURES. Period. And if you can't.... I can. They don't have to be perfect. But they can be a memory. A permanent stamp on life. It's never a regrettable thing.

Much love to all my people. I'm throwing out pieces of my heart left and right. Please catch part of it.

A couple wonderful things.... when I send out a quick note on IG or here or an email about last minute spots, and I get to photograph one of my favorite families, it's just perfect. Secondly... I really, really REALLY encourage families to get photos before your kids leave home. And I know these are going to be a little emotional to look at, but here's the thing about bittersweet things... they are just that. Things can hurt and feel wonderful at the same time. And change is good. Much love to you guys.

I haven't seen this guy for quite a few years and holy moly.... he sure has changed! Everything but his eyes, which are completely mesmerizing! What an awesome kid he has grown into! He'll be on the football field soon...be sure to go support our local Tribe!

It's the summer of all my babies going into their senior year of high school, and it's very very surreal at times. If you know me and have been shooting with me for any period of time, I probably remember every single shoot I've had with you. She wore pearls for her first shoot. She has been full of personality since she was born. She's very motivated and listening to her talk about what she's involved in and done and I have no doubt she will do amazing things!

I got to spend some time in the mountains with one of my most favorite families in the whole world. Their family just keeps growing and adding extras and others on setting out on great adventures of their lifetimes..... I'm just really proud that I got to be a part of it, just a little, for allllll these years! And also... I just have to say.... being the baby of this family is such a prime position to have! SO LOVED and protected!

This sweet boy has spent time in front of my camera since he was born (are you all seeing a trend the last few years?) He's so kind and pretty soft spoken and gentle and if we would could all take a moment and give some appreciation for his AMAZING hair! The nostalgic vibes it has makes me pretty happy.

She's the spitting image of her mother at her age, I know that because I've known her mother since we were 12. This sweet girl is feisty and determined and hard working. You can see her marching this week in the parades. And even though she's pretty tiny... she carries that drum like a boss.

In the summer in Wyoming, you can never really predict the weather... only that it's going to be unpredictable.
On my way to this shoot I drove straight into a flood filled storm. I just had to pray that I wouldn't hydroplane in the middle 20 semis. I went from 90 degree heat and sunshine to downpour and fog. Not awesome. When I got to my destination I had to play it cool and do my job. That being said, I was able to shoot in between storms and it was so incredible. I got dark cloud filled skies and corn fields.... I couldn't ask for a better back drop.
He's the last of his siblings to graduate, which means it was last time photographing a senior for this family. I've been working with them for 10 years now, and getting to know them has been so wonderful!
