The Order of Operations for Life and Leadership
Most of us learned the “Order of Operations” in math long before we understood how much it applies to real life.
You probably remember it:
Parentheses. Exponents. Multiplication. Division. Addition. Subtraction.
Do the steps out of order, and you get the wrong answer.
Life works the same way.
So does leadership.
So does business.
So does building a healthy team, a healthy practice, or a healthy life.
The problem is that many people are trying to solve the equation of their lives completely out of order.
They focus on growth before stability.
Productivity before purpose.
Revenue before systems.
Commitment before clarity.
And urgency before what actually matters.
The result?
Stress. Burnout. Frustration. Chaos.
Not because they are incapable — but because they skipped the order.
Order Creates Outcomes
In math, you cannot ignore the process and expect the right result.
You cannot subtract before solving what is inside the parentheses.
Likewise, in life:
You cannot build sustainable success without first understanding what matters most.
You cannot create healthy teams without creating clarity.
You cannot scale chaos and expect peace on the other side.
Order matters.
When things feel overwhelming, it is often because too many priorities are competing at the same level.
Everything feels urgent.
Everything feels important.
Everything demands attention immediately.
But not everything deserves to come first.
