This turkey is making a little Pine Creek Skulls history.

After years of cleaning skulls using traditional methods, I finally added dermestid beetles to the process—and this turkey is the very first skull to go into the beetle tank.

These tiny insects are nature’s cleanup crew. They carefully remove every bit of tissue from the skull without damaging the delicate bone structure, making them one of the best tools available for producing clean, detailed European mounts.

I’ll be honest, it’s pretty wild watching thousands of beetles do their job. What would take hours of work by hand, they handle naturally and efficiently.

This is just the beginning. I’m excited to see how this new process improves the quality and detail of the mounts I provide for hunters across Wyoming and beyond.

Would you let thousands of beetles loose on your trophy? Let me know in the comments. 👇

BIG NEWS!

We got beetles! 🪲

Dermestid beetles are the gold standard for skull preparation, allowing us to preserve delicate details that can be damaged by other cleaning methods. The result? Cleaner, whiter, museum-quality skulls that show off every detail of your trophy.

Finally getting around to post my personal harvests from this year. Got incredibly lucky on finding this buck opening day of rifle. And the doe was my first archery harvest as a Wyoming resident. Grateful to have had some delicious in the freezer.
