For those who haven’t heard yet, a little exciting news ✨

Public Knowledge® has acquired Civic Initiatives after 2 years of partnering together through NASPO PASS. Our teams already know how to work well together, so this truly felt like the right next step.

Really excited for what this means for the clients we support!

Leaders are often very good at starting new initiatives. Stopping work is where things get harder. It’s not usually a lack of insight. It’s the concern about what stopping might signal.

When everything continues, teams end up carrying more than they should.

Creating space sometimes means making the call to stop. 🌱

Decision-making is often where I see the most friction in organizations.

Teams aren’t usually struggling to act. They slow down when it’s not clear who decides, what matters most, or what “good enough” looks like. That uncertainty can lead to delays, workarounds, and frustration.

A lot of the work is about making how decisions get made more visible so teams spend less time second-guessing. 🧭

I spent time this week at the 2026 NASCA Annual Leadership Conference hearing conversations about business process redesign, change management, and how state agencies are supporting teams through ongoing change.

Grateful for the chance to connect with leaders across the country and hear what they’re seeing in their own environments. Leaving with new perspectives and energy for the work ahead. 🤝

We’ve expanded our leadership and team development offerings through the acquisition of Workplace Culture Conversations and Civility Training programs from Civic Dinners, Inc. These programs strengthen how teams communicate, navigate conflict, and engage across differences in day-to-day work.

As more technical work becomes automated, the human side of organizations matters even more.

A lot of the tension I’m seeing currently comes from speed driven by external pressure, whether funding timelines, political expectations, or public demand.

Teams are rarely starting from a neutral place. They’re carrying the residue of past urgent work, which makes it harder to reset. Even when goals are met, the longer-term impact shows up in burnout, rework, and declining trust.

We help teams separate what is truly time-sensitive from what only feels urgent, and build in ways of working that don’t trade long-term health for short-term progress. ⚖️

A lot of the work we do at Public Knowledge® focuses on the “people” side of problems. We bring a perspective that strengthens how organizations address complex challenges.

Public Knowledge® has added Workplace Culture Conversations and Civility Training programs through its acquisition of Civic Dinners, Inc.

We are building on how we support our clients:

🔹Navigate tough conversations with clarity and confidence

🔹De‑escalate conflict

🔹Build trust within the team

🔹Strengthen respectful, effective communication

Organizations are naming important priorities right now, like data-informed decision-making and staff well-being.

The gap I’m seeing is in how those priorities are resourced. Budgets, staffing, and timelines do not always shift in the same way, which means already stretched teams end up carrying more. A lot of our work is helping leaders surface where that disconnect is and how time, people, and decision-making authority actually line up with what is being asked.

Alignment shows up in how work is resourced, not just what is stated. 💡
