This morning our Founder Dr. Litesa E. Wallace joined local leaders to speak with students at Whitehead Elementary School about Black History. She had the honor of joining Asst. Majority Leader Maurice A. West II Dr. Wallace is the 1st Black Woman to represent the in the Illinois General Assembly and the only woman from the region to serve more than one term. She gifted the school library with book "Black Heroes" and gave the classes she visted bookmarks. She is .

Grateful to see years of negotiation and collaboration result in legislation centered on affordability, grid reliability, energy storage, and workforce development.

Thank you to Governor JB Pritzker and Deputy Governor Bria Scudder for their leadership on Illinois energy policy; to Senator Steve Stadelman for his leadership as Chair of Energy & Public Utilities; and to my local legislators Rep. Dave Vella and Rep. State Representative Maurice West for voting in favor of this important legislation.

It was a privilege to work alongside the Coalition for Community Solar Access, the Joint Equity Eligible Contractors, Climate Jobs Illinois (Joe Duffy), the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition (Kady McFadden), Vote Solar, Illinois Environmental Council (Jennifer Walling), Taylor Uhe LLC and so many others to get this important legislation passed for Illinois.

This year reminded me that growth doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like healing, reflection, and trusting yourself enough to say yes.

I recently completed the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women in Business program with NYU Stern School of Business. It came at a time when I was still recovering from emergency surgery and grieving the loss of my mentor, Assistant Majority Leader Charles E. Jefferson. The experience restored my confidence and gave me space to work on my business alongside an incredible community of Black women entrepreneurs.
