"What makes that photo resurfacing interesting is I couldn't even get into a Louis Vuitton show at that point, you know. Like, going into a store sometimes could have been difficult...I'm an optimist. I believe that art, and good nature, can actually change the world. I refuse to believe the opposite. So, that photo represents to me what may seemingly be impossible is possible. I didn't think I would be the head of Louis Vuitton then, but I knew it was possible." —Virgil Abloh

This photo was taken by Tommy Ton on January 23, 2009, and posted on his blog. It sparked a pop culture moment, that led to jokes, and an infamous South Park episode. These Chicago Kids stayed true to their vision, to themselves, and they changed global fashion forever. Check our stories for the link.

"It's been an enormous responsibility. And I accepted it, and I lived in a way that showed how I respected that responsibility. I had to. In order for others to come behind me, there were certain things I had to do."

-Sir Sidney Poitier, on his responsibility representing Black creatives, artists, actors, and communities of color

A life well lived. Leaders lead by example. Rest in Power, Sir.
