Chinese Lion Dance
The Lion Dance is one of the most important traditions at Chinese New Year. It is performed to bring prosperity and good luck for the upcoming year. The Lion Dance is also a way to create a festive atmosphere and bring happiness.

What is the difference between Lion and Dragon Dance?
The most significant difference between the two dances is that the Lion Dance is performed by two people only while a group of 9-15 dancers performs the Dragon Dance for a 18-25 meter-long dragon. Dragon costumes are controlled with long poles while Lion costumes are controlled from within the Lion's head and tail.

In this Han folk-style dance, the dancers mimic the movements of reversible paper-cut dolls. In China, paper-cuttings for the Lunar New Year are often red, the color of happiness and good luck. The most elaborate paper-cuttings are intricate, non-symmetric, and even life-like.

While the art of papercutting is practiced all over the world, the art may have originated in China up to 2000 years ago during the Han Dynasty. Paper-cuttings have been used both as free-hanging decorations and as window coverings, the latter creating an illuminated effect similar to that of stained glass windows.

Thought for the Day:
1. Can we forgive a person who doesn't think they've done wrong (and we think they have)?
2. If they don't ask for forgiveness, can forgiveness proceed?
3. What if I or they die before I forgive them or they ask?

While a new COVID variant, global economic crisis and many other ill factors are looming over the year 2023, hope and looking up to a brighter sun every morning is what is keeping this world going on.

Happy New Year! May we find the perspective we seek in 2023. As a wise person once said, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain".

Life is an adventure that's full of beautiful destinations. Wishing all of us many wonderful memories made in 2023.

We are bidding farewell to a year that gifted us our lives back. After two years of lockdown, we all resumed normalcy and the fun talking to each other face to face. It was fun to be around friends and family and back to business conversations.
