As someone who is constantly in the middle of customers, product, engineering, and the sales team I FEEL THIS DEEP in my soul

Here’s what usually happens… customer asks for something I have NO IDEA if we can act on. I have to take it back to our internal team to inquire and the confusing diagram goes from there.

Here’s how to get ahead of the miscommunication:

1. Communicate to your internal team (boss/manager/cross functional parter) that you are on their side and will relay the necessary information back to the original person

2. Communicate back to the individual if this ask can or can not be accomplished, in what timeframe, and how else it could be solved

3. document every time this is asked - you might be able build a biz case for this

What other confusing corporate diagrams can I help you with? 🫠

“should I go back and get my masters?”

Master’s degree vs. one good conversation….which move will actually your career forward?

You don’t always need more credentialing to make yourself successful.

Sometimes, you need to invest in your social capital.

And that’s on NETWORKING.

Networking isn’t about the fanciest title or the most credentials. It’s about being the person who shows up and asks “how can I help you?” even when you don’t know yet what that help will look like.

The smartest career move I ever made wasn’t on my resume.

It was a question I asked a client, years before I ever thought about going full-time in my own business: “How can I support you moving forward?”

I didn’t have a plan for it. I just meant it.

Two years later, when I finally left my 9-5 to build Career Civility full-time, that same person became my first full-time client.

What you give, you get back tenfold. You just have to be patient enough to let it come back around.

Who helped you early in your career and how did it eventually pay off? 👇

This is FASCINATING to me.

Before we make changes to the powers that be, we also have to understand the forces that shape how we act, communicate and lead in the first place.

I don’t know why I didn’t put two and two together…

Mean girl energy is a thing because it’s praised and rewarded in the corporate world.

Has that been your experience in the workplace? Let me know in the comments.

Also - comment ARTICLE if you want to send you this research study. Fascinating stuff my friends.
