Also how cute is my baby right now? She’s 18 months going on 3.. and has some very strong options about her preferences.

One thing that she does love though is her crib and her cozy blanky.
Yes as crazy as it sounds - she loves going to sleep!

When a baby learns how to initiate sleep and it isn’t hard for them they end up loving their bed when they are tired.

DM me if you want your baby to love their crib too!

Look at this adorable little Leah! Working with her and her mama was such a pleasure and she learned soo quickly!! ⁣

Read what her mama has to say!

“Before I started working with Mushkee, I was absolutely exhausted trying to keep up with Leah’s sleeping patterns. She often wouldn’t go to bed until 11 pm after hours of rocking and soothing, and then she would wake up at least 2-3 times to nurse during the night. Many times she refused to sleep in the crib and would only sleep in my bed, causing my quality of sleep to suffer. I felt like I was dealing with the unpredictability and frequent wakings of a newborn even though my baby was 8 months old! ⁣

After consulting with Mushkee and following the gentle sleep method, the results were nothing less than LIFE CHANGING. Leah is now able to soothe herself to sleep within minutes. She goes to sleep before 7:30 pm, sleeps straight through the night and is perfectly happy to snuggle up in her crib instead of in my bed. She takes two to three consistent naps during the day. Not only is Leah’s bedtime routine no longer a source of stress, I actually look forward to it because it has become an opportunity for me to bond with her. Bedtime and naps are now the most effortless, predictable parts of the day! ⁣

What I loved about the gentle sleep method was that I was simply helping my baby learn better sleep habits. I never once felt that I was abandoning her or forcing her to do something she wasn’t ready for. I was able to be by her side while she was learning to self-soothe and we progressed at a pace that was comfortable for us. ⁣
I was so impressed by Mushkee from day one. She KNOWS her stuff!! She really understands the ins and outs of sleep training and was always able to give advice tailored to Leah's exact situation. She truly went above and beyond to maintain constant communication with me, which made me feel very supported throughout the entire process. Mushkee is also one of the sweetest, most pleasant people ever so I always looked forward to our conversations!”⁣

The Newborn stage is one of the most challenging stages of a baby’s first year, especially as a first-time mum.⁣

One mom I was chatting with said, "she wished she could get it right from the start"⁣

Before a baby is 4 months old, they are still in their 4th trimester & you don’t do active sleep training. However, there ARE things you can start implementing to help you and your baby get better sleep!⁣

Below are 6 simple tips to “get it right”, so that you won’t need to sleep train later!⁣

𝟭. 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱⁣
Newborns are so sleepy, it’s easy for them to fall asleep before they finish eating. This is a problem b/c the baby will compensate with frequent snacking & will end up doing this throughout the night.⁣

𝟮. 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 & 𝗱𝗮𝘆⁣
When babies are first born, often their days & nights are mixed up. Newborns are 'jetlagged'. For 9 months in utero, they were being rocked to sleep all day while you were awake & when you went to sleep they spent their time awake. ⁣
In order to break this habit, start with keeping them in the dark peaceful room for evening & nights.⁣

𝟯. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲⁣
Practicing putting your baby down drowsy but awake for naps and at bedtime is the start to teaching him the valuable skill of self-soothing. Often if they start practicing in their first month of life, they get the hang of it by month 2 or 3 and then they never need to be officially sleep-trained!⁣

𝟰. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁⁣
A typical newborn awake window is 45-75 minutes. By keeping the awake time short, baby won’t get overtired & will be able to fall asleep quicker. ⁣

5:00am is NOT a normal wake up time... What time should your kids be waking up?⁣

Recently, after speaking with many Mama's, the most commonly discussed topic was early wake up times. ⁣

“𝘔𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘰 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘦𝘹𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺!”⁣

And I feel you. It is pretty hard to have a functional, energic, fun day with the kids when it starts so early! ⁣

Perhaps you tried👇🏼⁣
Giving your bub an extra bottle of formula right before bed?⁣

Or putting your kiddos to bed much later - because maybe, maybe, they will sleep in? Nope, sorry. ⁣
More times than not, kids will wake up the same time or earlier if put to bed too late.⁣

What is a normal time for kids to wake up in the morning? ⁣
My answer: Anytime after 6am. A child’s natural circadian rhythm is set to wake up anytime between 6-8am.⁣

So, what do I say to my clients when they say their kid is waking up at 6am?⁣

GO TO BED EARLIER! I know, it’s hard! But, that is what you have to do if you want to enjoy your days more without being so tired all the time - that is YOUR piece of sleep training homework!⁣

To Mama's whose babies are waking up before 6am - there are changes you can make to have themwake up later! Don't think that is your normal. You don’t have to wake up so early and be exhausted for the rest of your child raising years. ⁣

What time does your little one wake up in the morning?

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴? 𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁… 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽!⁣

Crying is not easy to listen to. No matter how old our children get, crying is tough.⁣

One of the biggest reasons people don’t hire sleep coaches is because they think we say to leave the baby all alone to cry and they’ll just eventually fall asleep…⁣

This is far from true.⁣

What if you could be there, right next to them, while your baby was learning how to self-sooth?⁣

Yes, there might be crying. I don’t want you to get the wrong idea, but you can be there. You can still be their mom who supports and loves them through this process.⁣

As a fellow mum of 2, I know how draining it can be to hear your baby cry and feel helpless. But… what if you can help?⁣

Sitting next to them and soothing them intermittently can drastically help to diminish the amount of tears.⁣

Also, learning the different cries can help you distinguish when your baby is in pain or is simply protesting because 'they don’t want to do their homework' aka practicing their new skill of putting themselves to sleep.⁣

As a Gentle Sleep Coach, I am very sensitive to parents who find it difficult to tolerate the tears.⁣

I used to go crazy from spending so much time rocking my child to sleep. By the time I was done, all I wanted to do was take a nap myself! ⁣

Because of this, every day as nap time approached my anxiety started to build. I was constantly feeling stressed that 'soon it would be naptime, and oh I must get this baby to sleep before he gets overtired' But it was so hard! ⁣

As time went on it took longer and longer for him to fall asleep. Is this happening to you? ⁣
If the answer is yes, it is a sign that your baby is ready to learn how to learn how to fall asleep independently. ⁣

Mums, I can give you the tools to confidently and successfully teach your child to fall asleep independently. ⁣

Practically, this means spending not more than a couple minutes with your little one before putting him in the crib and walking out. The best part is, as nap time approaches, instead of feeling any anxiety, you feel excited and it turns into the most satisfying part of your day!⁣

If your child doesnt yet know how to fall asleep independantly and you are wishing for some stress-free naptime and bedtime send me a DM!

One of the amazing perks of working with me, is the individualized attention and customized support that you receive!

I enjoy getting to know you, and keeping up daily so we can really work towards our set goal.

Read what Mushka Deitch has to say after a couple weeks of working together.

“Mushkee was incredibly supportive and patient with me as I navigated nighttime sleep training and then nap training. She gave me so much time and invaluable advice. She was a doll to work with. I highly recommend her.”

Are you planning on taking a family vacation but worried it will interfere with your child's sleep schedule? Below are 5 tips for staying on track while you are away.

I understand that it may be hard to keep your child’s sleep schedule on track while you are on vacation. Even adults fall off course and get on “vacation mode”, but for kids, it’s much easier to keep them on schedule.

Here are my 5 tips for keeping your child’s sleep schedule on track while you are away.

1. Stay consistent as much as possible. It will help maintain familiarity for your baby.

2. Bring along all comfort items- baby's preferred dummy, lovey, special blanket, white noise (if you use this) and if possible, even their bassinet or bed!

3. Keep their bed time routine as similar as possible to home. Any songs, books etc. that you do at home, be sure to include on vacation too!

4. Keep the baby's room dark and cozy. This will help them feel more relaxed for bedtime. Silver foil on the windows instead of black out shades can do the trick!

5. Try to arrange any trips or outings to fall within your baby's awake windows. This will help bubs from becoming overtired or irritable. If you plan for bub to nap on the go, that is ok too.

But what if you do all this and your baby's schedule is still out of wack?

Just relax! Remember, it's just vacation, and it's ok to be flexible:) The changes may simply be too big of an adjustment for bubs to manage and they may just need some extra cuddles... and that's ok!

But don't forget, as soon as you return home, it is super important to snap straight back into your regular routine! You may need to even do a couple nights of a mini "sleep training" to gently reinforce the routine you have at home.

Remember- the key is consistency AND flexibility!

So… tell me, where are you heading to this summer?
