This month on Finding Reverie: An Entrepreneur’s Journey, we’re highlighting Episode 14, featuring a conversation with Kim Hannay, Founder and Executive Director of Digs with Dignity - a Chicago nonprofit transforming houses into homes for families who were previously unhoused.

Since its founding in 2019, Digs With Dignity has served more than 300 families by collecting donated furniture and home goods and using them to thoughtfully design and furnish each family’s new home. But what makes their approach so special is the personal touch. Before designing a space, the Digs team gets to know each family - their style, their needs, their must-haves, and even their would-love-to-haves. The result isn’t simply a furnished space; it’s a home created specifically for them.

And that sense of home can be transformative. An incredible 97% of the families served by Digs With Dignity have remained housed, and many have gone on to earn promotions, pursue personal goals, and build greater stability in their lives.

Digs With Dignity is an extraordinary example of what can happen when thoughtful design, community, and compassion come together. Change isn’t always the problem. Uncertainty is.

When leaders communicate a change without providing context, clarity, or a clear path forward, it’s easy to mistake questions, hesitation, or pushback for resistance.

But your team may not be resisting the change. They may simply be trying to understand it.

Before you label someone as “resistant to change,” take a step back and ask yourself:

Have we given them enough clarity to confidently move forward?

Great change management isn’t about convincing people to get on board. It’s about giving them a reason to - and making sure they know where they’re going.

At Reverie, we believe in giving back to our community. Once again we are giving back to Digs With Dignity, a 501(c)(3) organization that aspires to break the cycle of homelessness by empowering people with dignity. Digs with Dignity partners with Chicago-based social service agencies to identify those in need of a home and utilizes a warehouse of donated and refurbished furniture and home goods to outfit the homes.

On Friday, October 16th, Reverie will have the honor again of furnishing and decorating a home for a deserving Chicago who was previously unhoused. OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $6000 to create a lovely, warm, and beautifully decorated home for this family.

It's Q4 and time to start planning for 2027. However, before you start setting next year’s goals, take a hard look at what actually happened this year.

Ask yourself:

What worked?
What didn’t?
What took far more time, money, or energy than it should have?
What would I do differently if I could start the year over?

Then ask the most important question:

What needs to change before January 1?

Q4 is your opportunity to clean up what’s holding your business back before you carry the same problems into a brand-new year.

Don’t just close out 2026. Use it to build a better 2027.
