Looking for an engaging, screen-free summer activity for your teen? Get them outside and into the garden! 🌻🍅

We are so excited to announce the Grow Your Future: Summer Urban Farming Camp!

This isn't just a summer camp; it’s a hands-on experience where youth (ages 11–18) can discover the joy of growing their own food and building a lifelong connection to nature.

Campers will learn the essentials of urban agriculture—from testing soil and planting seeds to harvesting fresh crops—and take exciting field trips to local community gardens to see real-world sustainability in action! 🌍🌱

What an incredible experience speaking at the Collaborating for Connected Futures convening hosted by Tata Consultancy Services at ,UChicago!

Representing , South Side Consulting, I joined a powerhouse panel to talk all things AI’s Impact on Digital Inclusion and Opportunity.

We dove into the real-world applications of AI, the evolving skills our communities need, and how we can use this tech to expand access rather than limit it. Progress happens when we focus on equity, leadership, and actionable partnerships! 🤝🏾

🚀 The future of tech looks bright, and it’s being built right here by our youth! ✨

We are so incredibly proud of the students at the Black Researchers Collective (BRC) who completely crushed our “AI for the People” App Design Masterclass! 🙌🏾

For 3 high-energy hours, these 14-to-24-year-old innovators transformed into a fully functioning tech startup. They didn’t just learn about Artificial Intelligence as consumers—they commanded it as creators to build solutions for their own neighborhoods. 🌍💻

Here’s how they did it:
🧠 Confronting Bias: Before writing a single prompt, they tackled “Technological Racism” head-on—learning how bias gets coded into AI so they can intentionally design inclusive tech.

🗣️ Prompt Engineering: Proving that coding isn’t the only way into tech! They used Base 44 AI to turn plain-English ideas into actual app wireframes.

🛠️ Startup Squads: They divided and conquered as Architects (Flow), Creatives (Design), and Engineers (Interface).

The result? Mind-blowing app concepts designed to solve real, systemic community barriers—from food access to mental health resource hubs. 📱✊🏾

We can’t wait to see these young founders pitch their final platforms at the Community Showcase on June 27th!

I am overwhelmingly proud today. 🎓✨

Look at what the graduating class of the Construct Program has accomplished! We have watched them pour their hearts, their sweat, and their endless determination into this journey. From tackling the complexities of graphic arithmetic to mastering blueprint reading, they didn’t just learn new skills—they built a powerful foundation for the rest of their lives.

They showed up early, they stayed late, and they pushed through the challenges. They leaned on each other and grew into an unstoppable force. This program is about so much more than workforce development; it’s about unlocking the incredible potential that was already inside every single one of them.

A massive thank you to ComEd and the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago for helping make this life-changing initiative possible. Together, we are opening doors that will stay open for generations.

The hard hats these graduates wear today are crowns they’ve earned. As they step onto new job sites and begin these exciting careers, they have an entire community behind them. We cannot wait to see them go out there and build the future. We will always be in their corner cheering them on! 🏗️💛
