When Ellen Turner was looking to start William Everett in 2010, she saw more than a business opportunity. She saw an issue that needed to be addressed.
As a Black woman in consulting, Ellen was keenly aware that there were not many other consultants who looked like her. With William Everett, she decided it would help create opportunities for people of color in the consulting and technology sectors.
Today, our family-owned company now has more than 150 employees. And it stands as an example of how a diverse workforce can bring different perspectives to complex problems.
Ellenโ€™s vision has made William Everett a truly different consulting firmโ€”a firm where people from all backgrounds come together to help make a difference in the world.

"Our first 15 years were filled with memorable moments. Hereโ€™s a quick look at a few โ€œfirstsโ€ we wonโ€™t forget at William Everett:
1๏ธโƒฃ Employee: Founder Ellen Turner didnโ€™t have to go far to find her first employee. She worked with Darrin Weatherspoon at the City of Chicago and hired him as Employee No. 1โ€”and heโ€™s still at William Everett today.
2๏ธโƒฃ Office: It was one room with two desks. Weโ€™re in the same building nowโ€”with a much larger footprintโ€”plus we have offices in Dallas, St. Louis and Washington, D.C.
3๏ธโƒฃ Client: We partnered with Crowe on a web design and CMS project at the City Colleges of Chicago. This was a key early win, and we continue to work with Crowe today.
4๏ธโƒฃ Community impact project: Weโ€™ve always believed in giving back. In 2012 we launched our Summer Internship Program to teach high schoolers about tech careers. We continue to provide mentorship and training programs through The McGee Turner Family Foundation.
5๏ธโƒฃ Industry recognition: In July 2019, we received the Small Business of the Month Award from OnDeck, which provides online capital to entrepreneurs. We were the first small business in Illinois to win the award, and we were also included in a national media campaign.
We canโ€™t believe itโ€™s been 15 years since we started the William Everett journey. And we canโ€™t wait to see what new โ€œfirstsโ€ we create next."

This year marks our 15th anniversaryโ€”and we couldnโ€™t be prouder of all that weโ€™ve accomplished together.
Since we started William Everett in 2010, weโ€™ve been fully committed to serving our clients and giving back to our communities. As a Black- and woman-owned enterprise, weโ€™ve helped change the face of management and technology consulting.
Today, we continue to live out our values as we empower public and private leaders to better serve their customers and communities. And we continue to be Always On for our clients to help them work more efficiently in a diverse and changing world.
Thank you to our amazing team, loyal clients and supportive partnersโ€”we couldnโ€™t have done it without you!

I am bursting with overwhelming pride due to the beautiful William Everettโ€™s Womenโ€™s History Month, โ€œBooks, Bottles and Bold Conversationsโ€ event. This was our largest turnout and the most diverse and exhilarating. Thank you to my incredible corporate giving and planning committee, co-chaired by Brittany Black and Ashley Johnson and their members.

I also want to congratulate this yearโ€™s Sheroes โ€“ Carolyn Randle, William Everett, Samantha (Sam) Katzeff, William Everett and Teena Lori Harris, Executive Director, Office of Business Enterprise and Environmental Social Governance, Chicago Public Schools! Each of these extraordinary women has made an indelible impact in their respective fields, and it was an honor to highlight their achievements and contributions to our community.
