Writing ‘Wellness Reimagined’ gave me the opportunity to reflect on a question I continue to explore in my work:

What does it really take to create a life that feels well-lived?

The answer became clearer throughout the process: well-being is not something we add after everything else is complete.

It is shaped by how we spend our time, the connections we nurture, the values we live by, and the moments that bring meaning to our everyday lives.

One of the greatest lessons reinforced through writing this book is that wellness is not only about personal habits. It is also about purpose, belonging, curiosity, and staying connected to what matters most.

These ideas continue to guide my work with high-performing professionals through coaching, corporate wellness consulting, and speaking.

Wellness is not a destination. It is an ongoing practice of creating a life and way of working that feels meaningful, connected, and aligned.

Before saying yes to everything, remember this:
Capacity isn't just about time. It's also about energy, focus, and emotional space.

In my work with professionals, I often see people look at their calendars without considering what each commitment will require mentally and emotionally. Even small obligations can take more from us than we realize.

Before saying yes, ask yourself:
▪️ Do I have the mental energy for this right now?
▪️ Do I have space for another commitment this week?
▪️ Will this support my well-being or add to my stress?

As you settle into fall, being intentional with your "yes" can help protect your energy before the season becomes too busy.

Leadership isn't just about what you say. It's about what you consistently model.

Your team notices how you handle challenges, communicate with others, and care for your own well-being. Those everyday actions help shape your workplace culture.

When leaders model balance, resilience, and respect, they inspire others to do the same.

As summer winds down, a little preparation now can make a big difference when fall gets busy.

I recently spoke with Tribune Content Agency about using this quieter time to audit your calendar, recognize your personal warning signs for burnout, and strengthen your boundaries before the fall rush begins.

One of my favorite reminders: Before adding something new to your calendar, pause and ask whether it will energize you or deplete you.

DEAR READER: As we approach the last lap of summer, how can you maximize the calm before the storm? Where has this summer gone? Blink and it’ll be Labor Day. As we approach the end of summer and your work calendar seems refreshingly lighter with less meetings, there are several ways to leverage th...

Before your inbox, meetings, and to-do list take over, take one minute to reconnect with what matters most this week.

Instead of asking, "What do I need to get done?" ask yourself, "How do I want to show up?"

Maybe your focus is to lead with patience. To be fully present with your family. To protect your energy. Or to create more work-life harmony.

When your daily actions are guided by your values instead of your schedule alone, it becomes easier to make decisions with intention and stay connected to your purpose throughout the week.

A mindful start doesn't change your calendar. It changes how you move through it.

Overwhelm usually isn't caused by one big thing. It's caused by too many things competing for your attention at once.

When I feel it building, I stop trying to push through and instead focus on simplifying.
▪️ I separate what's truly urgent from what can wait.
▪️ I choose one priority instead of trying to do everything at once.
▪️ I give myself permission to let the rest wait until I'm ready.

Most of the time, nothing needs to be solved immediately. It just needs enough space for me to think clearly again.

Sometimes overcoming overwhelm isn't about doing more. It's about creating more clarity.

Some leaders believe being constantly available is part of being a great leader. But being "always on" isn't the same as being fully present.

Without time to recharge, it's harder to think clearly, make thoughtful decisions, stay creative, and lead with intention.

Healthy leadership includes healthy boundaries. Taking time to disconnect isn't a sign of less commitment. It's what allows you to return with greater focus, resilience, and presence for both your team and yourself.

Today, ask yourself: When was the last time you truly disconnected from work?

If you had to fill in the blank, what would you choose?

Right now, I need more...
▪️ Rest
▪️ Focus
▪️ Connection
▪️ Joy
▪️ Confidence
▪️ Time outside
▪️ Movement

Sometimes the most important question we can ask ourselves is: What do I need more of right now?

Your non-negotiables are the habits that help you feel your best. Prioritizing them consistently can make all the difference, especially during busy seasons.
