We are holding the Jackson family close in our hearts during this time of profound loss. Reverend Jesse Jackson’s passing is not only a loss for a family, but for a community, a movement, and a generation shaped by his leadership and voice. We were there to support them through this period of grief, and we remain committed to standing beside them in honoring his life with the same care, dignity, and love that defined it.
It was one of the greatest honors of our team’s work to lead the coordination of the Celebrations of Life services for Jesse Jackson. In the coming weeks, we’ll be taking time to reflect on what this opportunity has meant to us, starting by sharing moments from Rainbow PUSH Coalition, where the Reverend lay in repose, and from the Omega Psi Phi memorial service.
Thousands of family, friends, and community members came through Rainbow PUSH to pay their respects, with lines stretching down Drexel. There were so many powerful moments those in line reflecting on the Reverend’s speeches as they waited, clergy and artists offering prayer and song, a dedicated podcast room where stories and memories were shared, and the family greeting each person who came to honor his life.
APS & Associates was proud to work alongside an incredible team of Black women-owned firms to produce the Lying in Repose services: , MGPG Events, , and . We also extend our gratitude to the many partners who helped bring this vision to life: Rev. Charles Jenkins, Rev. James Meeks, Rev. Charlie Dates, Irving Street Rep, Leak & Sons Funeral Home, Minyon Moore, Shelley Davis, James Gomez, and the entire PUSH family with a special thanks to Rev. Bobby Lewis and Rev. Jeanette Wilson.
We approached this work with deep reverence, honoring a leader whose legacy changed the course of history. We are profoundly grateful to the Jackson family for trusting us with this responsibility during such a sacred time.
