Congratulations to Alicia Garcia-Abner, President of Trinal, a woman- and minority-owned company committed to improving equality in both the construction and transportation industries, and administrator of day-to-day operations. She's been named "Crain's Notable Leader." Creating career pathway programs for Walsh-Fluor on the Chicago Transit Authority's Red and Purple Modernization Project, a collaboration with Chicago Public Schools and City Colleges of Chicago, is one of her recent accomplishments. Additionally, she secured contracts with large construction projects such as Bally's Chicago, the Shedd Aquarium, TranSystems/CSX Transportation, and Norfolk-Southern to serve as workforce development and DEI compliance consultants. Garcia-Abner is a member of the African American Contractors Association, the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association, and the U.S. Minority Contractors Association. She also serves on the committee for DEI for the Chicagoland Associated.

With my deepest sympathy I am so sad to hear that Chris-Tia Donaldson is no longer with us. I met Tia
some years ago when my Client Bob Mariano was seeking to increase the representation of Diverse
Businesses in his stores. I will never forget, while I was in Walgreens, asking a Walgreens representative
whether the TGIN line was owned by an African American. After some research, I found out that Chris-
Tia Donaldson was an African American female who was located here in the Chicagoland area. When I
contacted her I believe I was as or more excited to speak with her. Tia shared with me that the products
that she developed was done out of a need that she personally had which was to address her and others
haircare needs. Tia was a beautiful woman whose hair was extremely curly and long and she shared
with me that she could not find a product that addressed her haircare needs. Note that Tia, being a
Harvard law graduate, could have gone in a number of career directions However, she took the journey
of helping so many by developing the TGIN line. Needless to say she was one of many who attended the
Mariano’s Meet the Buyer event in 2013 that was selected to be in the Mariano’s stores. All while
running and further expanding her company through the years I later found out about her struggles with
Breast Cancer. However, I found she always displayed the energy and drive to continue to move
forward. I am sending hugs and prayers her way and to her family. We are all blessed to have had
someone like Tia who crossed pathways in our and so many lives throughout the country where Tia can
be found through TGIN one of her many legacies.
