As the United States celebrates 250 years of independence, MARTIN WÆRN is traveling across the country to uncover the people, places, and stories that have shaped the relationship between Sweden and America.

Through Letters From America, a project in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden in USA, Martin is capturing Swedish-American stories from communities across the country, including right here in Chicago!

During his recent visit, Martin sat down with two inspiring members of Chicago’s Swedish-American community.

Karin Moen Abercrombie, Honorary Consul of Sweden in Chicago, Executive Director of the Swedish American Museum, and Honorary Director of SACC Chicago, shares her perspective on Chicago’s rich Swedish heritage and the ties that continue to connect Sweden and the United States. What a wonderful evening of Early Voting & After Work Mingle at the Swedish American Museum!

Yesterday, Swedish citizens in Chicago gathered to cast their votes in Sweden’s 2026 election, followed by networking and connecting with Chicago’s Swedish-American community.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so special! We are grateful to the Honorary Consulate of Sweden in Chicago and the Swedish American Museum for their partnership in making this event possible.

Spend your Sunday with SACC Chicago at Chicago Stars FC!

We’re excited to share an update regarding our Chicago Stars Soccer Outing on September 20, when the Stars take on the Washington Spirit at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston.

As you may have heard, Martin Sjögren parted ways with the Chicago Stars earlier this month, so our previously planned pre-match chat with him will no longer take place. However, we’re thrilled to announce that the Chicago Stars’ new interim Head Coach, Karina Báez, will instead join our group for an exclusive pre-match Meet & Greet!

The Meet & Greet will take place from 2:40-2:55 PM, followed by an opportunity to mingle and enjoy the Fan Zone before the match kicks off at 4:00 PM.

We look forward to seeing you there for a fun afternoon of soccer, community and cheering on the Chicago Stars together!
