The series was created to help seniors build confidence while connecting them with community resources and the Brown Derby Jazz Series.

🇺🇸🎷 AMERICA’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY: THE SOUND OF BRONZEVILLE 🎷🇺🇸

This Independence Day, the 51st Street Business Association proudly celebrates not only 250 years of American independence, but also the rich cultural legacy that helped shape our nation right here in Bronzeville.

Known as the “Black Metropolis,” Bronzeville became the heartbeat of Chicago’s jazz scene, where legendary artists and local musicians transformed music into a voice of freedom, resilience, and community. The Brown Derby Jazz Series was created to preserve and celebrate that legacy while creating opportunities for today’s artists and future generations.

As we reflect on America’s past and look toward its future, we honor the businesses, artists, residents, and community leaders who continue to help reimagine Bronzeville through culture, economic development, and community engagement.
