In 2013, I thought my world had come crashing down. My so called thriving career had come to a sudden end. I was away on vacation in Florida (Daytona Beach) with my family and received “the call” - my boss informed me that due to an upcoming merger the company was consolidating several parts of the business which included our department. The day I got “the call” eight other coworkers spread throughout the country did as well. We were just one of the several departments impacted that year.

All the pieces of my life at that moment as I knew it were breaking down. Yes, I had the option to “reapply” for upcoming open positions in other departments. But somewhere in a distance, the voices in my head kept screaming “Are you willing to finally believe the things in your heart? Are you willing to be daring in your believing?” I realized I was shedding the things and the people in my life that were holding me back. I wasn’t falling apart, I was falling into place. I realized that I needed to quit holding onto the pieces that didn’t fit me anymore— I needed to let them fall off— I needed to let them go.
