We stand with our clients, colleagues and friends who have been active around the country, resisting ICE’s occupation of their communities. We’re also donating to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ilcm.org) and Community Aid Network of MN (canmn.org) to support the work these organizations are doing to help their neighbors fight back and keep their families fed.

Today, we’re remembering Oregon State Senator Aaron Woods who passed away after a battle with cancer. While working on his campaign in 2022, we saw the curiosity, kindness, and generosity that drove Aaron in every aspect of his life and made him an outstanding public servant. After growing up in Chicago, Aaron's career took him out West, where his leadership helped establish Oregon as a hub for technology companies. Throughout his military service, non-profit volunteerism, and time in the State Senate, he expressed his deep gratitude for the chance to give back to his community. Our thoughts are with Senator Wood's family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. We were fortunate to have known and worked with him.

Our fourth Reed Award winner, "Connect," was a issue advocacy digital video spot we created to thank Senator Chuck Schumer for his support of high-speed broadband in New York's small-town and rural communities. Whether it's an electoral campaign, an independent expenditure, or an issue advocacy effort, we're here to help you deliver winning messages to the right audiences at the most impactful times.

We successfully connected an important national issue – infrastructure spending and high-speed broadband, specifically – to the legislative priorities…

From the biggest national fights to the most local, our work has been recognized as some of the best by our peers in the industry. Another of our 2023 Reed Award winners was a direct mail piece we created for County Commissioner Heather Buch from Lane County, Oregon. She stepped up to help her constituents rebuild their small-town communities in the aftermath of 2020's devastating wildfires. She won re-election in this purple district, and we were honored to help her tell her story.

One of our 2023 Reed Award winners was "Veronica," a video we produced as part of a digital advertising campaign to support the Fast Food Justice ¡Ahora! campaign, part of the Fight for $15 in California. Stories like Veronica's helped push the monumental AB 257 through the California Legislature, which will empower frontline fast food workers to gain power in their workplaces.

This is "Fast Food Justice Ahora - Veronica" by Elevated Digital on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

Simply the best: Proud to have won FOUR Reed Awards for our work in 2022, including Best IE Mail for Democratic candidate for US Senate or US House! 🏆 This mail piece was part of a member communications program for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) in support of Senator Catherine Cortez Masto in her race to clinch Democratic control of the Senate.

👀 Last month, the Federal Election Commission approved a new rule that will require digital video and other online advertising to include "Paid for by" disclaimers, similar to those required on political TV 📺 and radio 📻 ads. Federal campaign TV advertising has been regulated for decades, and change for web, social media, and streaming TV 📱 content seemed almost inevitable.

The FEC's draft rule isn't as heavy-handed as it could have been (e.g. they allow for "adapted disclaimers" on small format ads and don't expand "stand-by-your-ad" requirements), but Congress must still approve the new rule before it goes into effect. The bottom line: As digital advertising takes up a larger and larger share of campaign and public affairs budgets, creative teams will need to look closely at how these proposed new rules may apply to different mediums, ad sizes, and formats - and adjust their creative and strategic recommendations accordingly.

There's a major policy change coming to Twitter that we're paying close attention to. After years of prohibiting political and "cause-based" ads, the platform will soon allow digital communicators to advertise for electoral and public policy campaigns.

Our take: This is good news for our clients who are hoping to reach journalists, elected officials, policy wonks, and activists. But with only 23% of Americans on Twitter, this is probably not the best platform to use when trying to move large swaths of the voting public.

Twitter users are younger, more likely to identify as Democrats, more highly educated and have higher incomes than U.S. adults overall.

Democrats in Michigan have the opportunity to overturn their so-called "right to work" law, enacted a decade ago by extreme right-wingers. Our advice to pro-labor lawmakers: When you have the power to stand up for working families, act boldly and swiftly. You might not get another shot at this.

In Michigan, state lawmakers have promised to repeal right-to-work laws.

This November, we ran independent expenditure and member communication programs in support of Democrats running in key congressional battlegrounds in New Hampshire, Virginia, and Georgia, as well as for Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, whose victory in Nevada clinched Democratic control of the U.S. Senate. Here's one ad we produced for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) in support of the Senator. Our direct mail and digital messaging focused heavily on kitchen-table economics and local issues like the devastating droughts that are hitting many Western states.
