These questions do two important things:

They help you learn whether the role is actually a good fit, and they show the interviewer you are already thinking beyond getting the job, you are thinking about succeeding in it.

Introducing our new Digital Strategy Intern, Faye!

She brings bright energy, fresh ideas, and the kind of “let’s make this happen” attitude I absolutely love. 🪫

She lights up when the conversation turns to women’s empowerment, and brings that same spark to strategy, storytelling, and digital connection.💡

Faye is a Senior Communication Studies major at Colorado State University, and she just ran her first marathon…which tells me she understands the long game, hard work, and mildly questionable decisions. 🤟

WELCOME FAYE!

To those celebrating today… Happy Mother’s Day!!!

May your coffee stay warm, your people text back, and your nervous system get at least one day off duty.

Here’s to the women who nurture, lead, support, show up, hold it together, and somehow still remember where everyone’s stuff is. 😉

Wishing you a slow morning, a deep breath, and a little peace in the middle of real life. 💐

Things I’ve learned from speaking to audiences 🎤

Over time, you start to notice what actually stays with people…

📖Stories stick longer than statistics

🙂Laughter creates openness to new ideas

✨Audiences don’t need perfection — they connect with authenticity

🌱And sometimes, one small idea is all someone needs to try something differently tomorrow

It’s not about saying everything perfectly.
It’s about saying something that resonates 💬

📣I love supporting women-owned businesses all year long… but this month feels like a particularly good excuse to shout one out….

I’m always happy to recommend ColorWord Creative, founded by Amanda Garcia.

Amanda and her team have this way of making you feel like you’re not just a client… you’re part of the team. They pay attention to your work, your voice, what makes you tick… and the details you care enough about to say, “Hmm… no!”

Then they turn all of that into word magic: strategic messaging, for elevator pitches, websites,or marketing strategies that actually work. ✨

It’s thoughtful, strategic, and collaborative, which is exactly what good marketing should be.
If you’re looking for a creative team that listens first and builds something that truly reflects your business, they’re worth knowing.

And if you have a woman-owned business you love supporting, drop it in the comments. ⬇️

📖 Lesson from my book, Put Your Big Girl Pants On:

Too often I hear people say they avoid public speaking whenever possible. But the truth is, public speaking is simply communicating your thoughts to others. 💭

If you’ve ever negotiated a salary, participated in an interview, or tried to persuade someone of an idea—you’ve already done it. ✅

Instead of dreading public speaking, start thinking of it as an opportunity to showcase your brilliance and the unique contributions only you can bring.

🌟Your voice, your perspective, and your experience matter more than you think.

Stop shrinking. Start speaking. 🗣️

Smart women often make themselves smaller in meetings. Not because they lack ideas, but because they’re trying to be considerate:

• Softening your opinion before you speak
• Reading the room too closely
• Over-explaining your point

Kindness is a strength. Clarity is power.

My first coaching client was a forensics detective whose courtroom testimony played a critical role in prosecuting some of the most heinous criminal cases in the local area.
As significant as that responsibility was, what inspired me most had nothing to do with her cases.
It was her discipline. Her humility. Her commitment to growth.
We worked together for a year. She showed up prepared. She practiced. She refined her communication with intention — even after long days most of us cannot imagine.
She did not rely on experience alone.
She invested in getting better.
And she excelled.
Here is the reminder:
Even at the top of your field, growth is a choice.
The smallest adjustments can elevate authority, clarity, and confidence.
That is the difference between experience and delivering results that truly reflect your expertise.

Who gets the floor in meetings often is seen as the leader.

Research shows speaking time strongly predicts leadership perception—and new workplace data suggests AI may be quietly changing who gets heard.

A fascinating reminder that sometimes the structure of a meeting matters more than we realize.

Leadership research consistently shows that speaking time influences who is perceived as a leader. A 2020 study published in The Leadership Quarterly found that individuals who spoke more in collaborative discussions were significantly more likely to emerge as leaders—even when researchers control...
