Steelworkers Park in South Chicago sits on the historic U.S. Steel South Works site — ore walls, steelmaking artifacts and all. Greenprint is partnering with Chicago Park District and Nurture Architects to develop a Framework Plan that honors that legacy while building toward something new.

50+ Southeast Side residents came to our kickoff meeting to share their priorities. That’s where leadership starts.

Housing + climate resilience + community green space. Fifth City Commons does all three.

This affordable housing development in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood sits on what was once vacant city land — and now includes 21,500 sq ft of public green space, native rain gardens, a planted rooftop terrace and a site that manages all its own stormwater.

Greenprint worked with Preservation of Affordable Housing Chicago on the landscape design, and we’re proud of what this project represents: landscape architecture that improves everyday life for the people who live there.

Alongside City of Milwaukee, Greenprint has been supporting Grasslyn Manor with their Help Build the Ark stormwater initiatives, and we're excited to see this resident-led work being spotlighted by WUWM 89.7 FM - Milwaukee's NPR

Grasslyn Manor, a neighborhood within Milwaukee’s Sherman Park, has been grappling with flooded basements for decades. Despite the increasingly erratic weather climate change doles out, its residents are determined to curb their flooding problem.

Congratulations to our partner Chicago Park District who received the 2025 Green Ribbon Award from the Friends of the Chicago River at last week’s Chicago River Blue Awards. Greenprint, along with TERRA Engineering, Ltd. is proud to play a role in the renovation of River Park to create opportunities for recreation, education and community engagement along the North Branch of the Chicago River. We're excited to partner with the Chicago Park District on the Steelworkers Park Framework Plan! This 16.5-acre lakefront park in South Chicago sits on the historic U.S. Steel South Works site, honoring the legacy of steelworkers and their families. The towering remnant ore walls, steelmaking artifacts and naturalized plantings help visitors imagine the site’s past while also envisioning its future potential.

Over the next year, we'll be working alongside Nurture Architects and community members to develop a vision for the park — from improved lake access to new amenities that reflect neighbors' priorities. Last month's kickoff meeting drew over 50 residents eager to shape this beloved community space, and we're honored to collaborate with Southeast Side community to help bring their ideas to life!
