I had an awesome time being a guest on the Fulfillment Project Podcast 🎙️

This conversation is a little different from what I usually share. It’s less about Inventor’s Edge and more about something deeply personal to me: how we eat, how we live, and how we align our choices with our values.

I open up about my journey from a self-described “happy carnivore” to writing my book Revenge of the Herds, and the moments that forced me to take a hard look at the food system, my health, and the impact on animals and the planet.

We get into:

• Why certain processed meats are classified alongside some of the most serious carcinogens
• The surprising results from a 10 day plant based study
• The one simple change that can make a noticeable difference fast
• How to evaluate your habits without going to extremes

If you’ve ever felt like something is off with the way we eat but don’t want a preachy conversation, this episode is for you.

My passion is helping people live in alignment with their values, whether that’s building a product, improving their health, supporting a healthier planet, or reducing animal suffering.

That mission shows up in my work with Inventor’s Edge and in this message as well.

Big win to celebrate and an even better story behind it!

One of our Inventor’s Edge coaching clients just secured a licensing deal and it did not come easy. This is what real progress looks like: staying in it when things feel uncertain, pushing through self-doubt, and continuing to take the next step even when the path isn’t clear.

This is why I do what I do.

So many inventors have great ideas but get stuck in the middle. Donna stayed committed, did the work, and trusted the process—that’s what got her across the finish line.

Here is her story in her own words:

My inventing journey has been anything but straightforward. For years, I had ideas with potential but no real understanding of how to navigate the licensing world. I felt stuck between creativity and the practical realities of getting a product to market.

Working with Scott at Inventor’s Edge changed that. He helped me move from uncertainty to clarity by breaking the process down into steps I could actually follow. His professional guidance and support gave me the confidence to keep going when things felt overwhelming, and your belief in my product helped me believe in it even more.

There were moments when I doubted myself, moments when the process felt too big, and moments when I wondered if I should just give up. But every time, Scott was there with direction, encouragement, and a plan. That support made all the difference.

Reaching for and achieving a great licensing deal was a huge milestone, not just professionally, but personally.

As a single mother, I overcame a lot of challenges and personal obstacles through this process. I have grown so much that I feel a different version of myself now, and that old version just feels like old stories that need to be left in the past. It shaped me, but it never hardened my heart. I’ve now proved to myself that persistence pays off, that creativity truly has value, and that the right mentor can change the entire trajectory of an inventor’s journey!

I’m genuinely grateful for Scott and Inventor’s Edge for helping me get here!

With Gratitude, Donna B.

If you can’t clearly explain your product’s purpose, your audience won’t understand it either.

Every great invention starts with clarity. What does it actually do for people? Who is it for? And why is it different from everything else out there?

When you get this right, everything else becomes easier.

Your messaging gets stronger. Your branding becomes more focused. And your audience can instantly see how your product fits into their life and improves it.

Inventors often focus on features. But what really sells is the benefit and the transformation your product creates.

Start with clarity. Build everything from there.

Branding doesn’t start with a logo. It starts with you.

Too many inventors and entrepreneurs hold back because they’re protecting their idea or worrying about what others might think. But the truth is, your story, your perspective, and your passion are what make your brand real and relatable.

People don’t connect with products. They connect with people.

When you show up authentically and share why your idea matters, you give your product a chance to truly impact others and even change lives.

If you’re building something, don’t hide behind it. Be part of it.

🎙️NEW PODCAST EPISODE IS LIVE

We just dropped a new episode of the Inventor’s Edge Podcast and this one is packed with value for inventors.

I sat down with Ari Krzyzek, branding expert and co founder of a successful marketing agency, to talk about what it really takes to turn an idea into something people actually want.

If you’re working on a product, we dive into:

• How to clearly define your product’s purpose and stand out in a crowded market
• The difference between features and benefits and why it matters
• How strong branding can make or break your product
• Why people connect with you first, then your product
• Common mistakes inventors make when trying to bring ideas to life

This is one of those conversations that can save you time, money, and a lot of frustration if you apply it early.

Know someone who might need a little help with their product idea?

Our Inventor’s Edge referral program is always active and it’s a win for everyone involved.

When you refer an inventor who signs up for a coaching package of six calls or more, you receive two free coaching calls as a thank you.

And the inventor you refer also receives two extra coaching calls added to their package at no additional cost.

This program is designed to help inventors move their product ideas to market with more clarity, better strategy, and fewer costly mistakes.

If you know someone who’s serious about turning their idea into something real, send them our way via email (or DM), or have them mention your name when they reach out to [email protected].

New Blog: Artificial Intelligence Inventions: What Inventors Need to Know and How to Get Started

Product licensing has changed and many inventors are still playing by old rules.

If you are new to licensing or just need a refresher, here is what is different today:
Companies expect validation before conversation. They want to see market demand, proof of concept, and a clear fit within their existing product line.

Patent pending is often enough to start discussions, but positioning and risk reduction matter more than ever.

Companies move faster, but they are more selective. Generic pitches get ignored.

Targeted outreach wins.

Licensing is still one of the smartest paths for inventors who do not want to build a full company, but it requires strategy, preparation, and professional communication.

If your goal is to license your invention, focus on:

• Clear problem and solution
• Defined customer and market
• Competitive differentiation
• Strong sell sheet and presentation
• Targeting the right companies

Licensing is not about finding someone to buy an idea. It is about presenting a low risk opportunity that fits a company’s growth strategy.

If you need a reset on how licensing works in today’s market, now is the time.

So many great product ideas never make it to market.

Not because they were bad ideas.

Not because there wasn’t demand.

But because the inventor couldn’t secure a licensing deal… and assumed that was the end of the road.

It doesn’t have to be.

For over 9 years, I’ve been coaching inventors, and the majority of that time has been on licensing and the last two years, have included venturing their own products. And yes, I love the licensing route. It can create a quick win, open doors, and give you powerful industry feedback without taking on inventory or large upfront risk.

But here’s what I’ve seen too often.

An inventor gets positive signals. The companies like it and see potential. Yet no licensing partner pulls the trigger. And instead of exploring the next move, the idea quietly dies on the vine.

If the feedback is good and you still believe in your product, why not at least explore venturing it yourself?

Venting does not have to break the bank. With the right strategy, smart validation, and controlled steps, you can test, launch, and build momentum without betting the house.

Licensing first can be a smart play. It gives you insight and leverage. But venturing is always an option. And sometimes it is the path that brings your idea to life.

You have more control than you think.
If you’re curious about what venturing could look like for your product, or you’re ready to dive in, reach out. I’m happy to answer your questions and help you map out the right path.

Excited to share that I’m a guest on the Prototype to Payday with Chief Engineer Brandon Manusov and the episode is officially live.

We had a great conversation about what it really takes to move from idea to marketplace. We talked about licensing, venturing, common mistakes inventors make, and how to build real momentum without wasting years or draining your bank account.

Brandon asks thoughtful questions and brings a true engineering perspective to product development, which made this a fun and practical discussion for inventors at any stage.

If you are working on an idea or thinking about taking the leap, I think you will get a lot out of this episode.

Spring officially begins March 20th… and you know what that means.

Open windows. Fresh air. And yes… bugs coming out in full force. (Or should we say coming IN?!)

Before you grab a shoe or a paper towel, here’s a friendly reminder: you don’t have to kill every bug that wanders into your home.

Most of them are just lost.

Swat-N-Scoop was designed to make it quick and easy to safely remove bugs without smashing them on your walls or floors. You trap, scoop, and release them right back outside in seconds. No mess. No harsh chemicals. No guilt.

It works on flies, stink bugs, spiders, moths, and more. Just a simple tool that makes those unexpected spring visitors a whole lot easier to handle.

On Wednesday I had a blast speaking alongside Steve Greenspon, Founder and CEO of Honey Can Do, at the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center at DePaul University.

We had an incredible turnout of engaged students who are serious about turning ideas into real products.

Steve and I shared what it actually takes to move a product from idea to store shelves.

Not theory. Not fluff. Real world lessons from developing, manufacturing, pitching, and getting products into retail.
We talked through practical steps, common mistakes, sourcing strategies, buyer conversations, and the mindset required to stay in the game when things get tough.

There is nothing better than being in a room full of future entrepreneurs who are asking smart questions and thinking big.

Huge thank you to the Coleman team and to every student who showed up ready to learn and build.

If you’re serious about bringing your idea to life, surround yourself with people who have done it and are willing to share the blueprint.

The path is possible. You just need the right guidance and persistence.
