Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at the College of DuPage Apprenticeship Reception, celebrating the graduates and the organizations investing in the future of talent. Shout out to Josie Wallace for the invite!
One thing is clear: Apprenticeships don’t succeed because of structure alone. They succeed because of the quality of the mentor–mentee relationship.
And that relationship is only as strong as the communication behind it.
In the work we’re doing, we focus on helping both mentors and mentees build greater self-awareness: how they communicate, how they lead, how they receive information, and how they approach their work. Because when people understand their own tendencies, strengths, and blind spots, the dynamic shifts.
Accountability increases. Trust strengthens. Conversations become more productive.
That’s where mentorship becomes effective, not by chance, but by design.
Grateful to contribute to a space that is actively shaping how we develop people, not just place them.
