Ambassador Eric Benjaminson (retired) is CEO of Notum Terra Consultancy and advises companies and organizations on strategy, policy, and mitigating risk with respect to doing business in Africa. Benjaminson served for 32 years as a U.S. diplomat, working during that time as an economist and deputy head of mission in Nigeria, South Africa and Burkina Faso, as Acting Ambassador in Namibia, and as Am
bassador to Gabon and to São Tomé and Príncipe from 2010 - 2013. In these roles, Benjaminson developed a deep knowledge, and perhaps more importantly, an instinctual feeling, for the business and national cultures of these African states. He worked with many American investors and businesses to develop communications and political strategies, to understand and overcome economic and administrative roadblocks, and to build a sensitivity to the diverse African marketplace and governance regimes. He has personally organized multilateral discussions on wildlife conservation in Central Africa, on GMO agriculture in the Sahel, and has successfully helped establish business and educational partnerships in Gabon, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Namibia. Since his retirement from the U.S. Government in 2013, Benjaminson has developed a specific and successful track record as a senior adviser to oil & gas firms, timber companies, and universities interested in innovative partnerships. OUR KEY SERVICES include strategic and governmental engagement between investors and African public-sector players; political risk assessments of contemporary political and economic developments in a range of sub-Saharan countries; directed problem-solving plans to help get projects and contacts back on track; and press and communications strategies. At Notum Terra, we are and will be focused on providing you with individualized African-related guidance and project design services. We will do everything possible to meet your expectations.
