Give your young creator the chance to design and build their own Android app using MIT App Inventor 2 — and learn the basics of starting a business in a fun, hands-on Saturday program.

WHAT STUDENTS WILL DO:

• Build a real app using MIT App Inventor 2
• Learn entrepreneurship basics (pre-teen level)
• Create a simple business plan for their idea
• Work in small teams
• Present their app at Demo Day for parents

Duration: 6 Saturdays
Sessions: 2 hours each
Ages: 5th–8th graders

We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Dina McReynolds-Everage, known affectionately as “The principal’s princiPAL,” has joined Genius Lab as our new Director of Partnerships. Dina brings a wealth of experience as a distinguished career educator, with an impressive track record of transforming data metrics and shifting the trajectory of schools in Chicago’s most challenging neighborhoods. Her work as a teacher, principal, and Chief Academic Officer has made a profound impact on urban education.

Dina has built a team of dedicated consultants who are passionate about creating exceptional, sustainable school communities that produce outstanding results for children who are often forgotten and always marginalized. Through the principles of the Human-Centered Design Process, Dina and her team implement best practices for managing change and designing equitable innovations that are tailored to the unique needs of each school community.

Her philosophy is simple but powerful: “Doing good work for children of color is not an option.
