To cheese or not to cheese???

We’ve seen the photo circulating of one of our officers at 20th Street Community Park, and we want to set the record straight.

Yes — he is a licensed security officer employed by Armed Guard Private Security. He was on duty at Community Park, doing the job we are contracted to do for the Chico Area Recreation and Park District: help enforce posted park rules so families can use the parks safely and fairly.

The individual who took and shared that photo had been asked to follow those rules. That request is part of our officer’s assignment. Being asked to observe park rules is not harassment. It is the work CARD hires us to do.

As for the Starbucks grilled cheese: we’re going to leave sandwich reviews to the experts. Our concern that afternoon was park rules, not lunch.

Our officers are trained to be professional and courteous. Most contacts in the parks are brief and uneventful. When someone would rather film the conversation than follow a posted rule, a photo can travel farther than the facts.

This bill could effectively eliminate half of our workforce. The public agencies we serve already operate on limited budgets, set by the state.

There is no way the cities or counties we serve could afford the increases that would be needed to support this bill.

These agencies would be forced reduce/eliminate our positions and find alternative options, like cameras, to stay within their budgets. The only alternative our local governments would have, raise taxes to support these cost increases.

Not to mention the increased costs to the security guards this bill supposidy is set out to support. It could raise the cost of the guard card from $44 to $350+!

We are all about raising the standards in our industry. But SB1203 simply isn't the answer.

Urgent update for California's security industry.

SB 1203 just passed the Assembly and is now on Governor Newsom's desk. He could sign it as early as Monday, Labor Day, when labor bills often get signed.

This bill raises costs by an estimated $2 billion a year and pushes guard card renewal fees from $44 to over $350, affecting more than 300,000 licensed security professionals in California.

Call the Governor's office today and ask for a veto. (916) 445 2841. Ask for the Legislative Affairs staff handling SB 1203, or leave a clear message requesting a veto.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Captain Gene Crook. His last day with Armed Guard Private Security, Inc. will be Friday, September 4th.

Gene has been part of our organization since we opened our doors on April 1, 2018. His commitment, however, began long before that. He started with AG Private Protection in September 2013 and has dedicated nearly 13 years of his career to helping our company grow and succeed.

Over the years, Gene’s loyalty, work ethic, and steady presence have made him far more than an employee—he has become one of the family. His dedication has helped shape the culture and standards we strive for every day.

We are genuinely happy for Gene as he steps into this next chapter and wish him nothing but the best in his travels and whatever adventures lie ahead.

Please join us in thanking Captain Crook for his many years of service and in wishing him a wonderful retirement.

Celebration of Life for Leon Dove

Today we gather to honor and celebrate the life of our dear friend, colleague, and the backbone of our organization, Leon Dove.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, we share the news that our beloved Vice President of Operations, Leon Dove, passed away on Saturday, June 20th.

Leon was the true backbone of Armed Guard Private Security. Tough on the outside but with the biggest heart, he cared deeply for our team, our clients, and the mission we serve every day. His steadfast commitment and unwavering dedication guided us through countless challenges, and we will feel his absence profoundly.

His spirit of excellence, integrity, and quiet strength will forever live on through our work.

A celebration of life will be scheduled soon. All are welcome to join us as we come together to remember Leon and share your favorite stories and memories. Details will be posted as soon as they are available.
