Flagg Pottery & Handwovens

Flagg Pottery & Handwovens Flagg Pottery and Handwovens I started making pottery in 1968 at Blackburn College and sold my first pieces at a local art fair.

I have been producing functional pottery ever since. Flagg Pottery became an official business in 1975 after I graduated from Bradley University with an MFA in Ceramics and Sculpture. The inspiration for my work is the functionality, the spontaneity, and having strong forms of the pottery made by potters throughout history and around the world. Their pottery, made for everyday use by hands working

from years of experience, captures the essence of man’s desire to live a simple yet pleasurable life. In my work I try to honor the tradition of making genuine and simple pottery yet maintain a sense of beauty and handmade vitality. Every pot is made from one piece of clay, one pot at a time, by my hands.
