Flagg Pottery & Handwovens

Flagg Pottery & Handwovens Flagg Pottery and Handwovens I started making pottery in 1968 at Blackburn College and sold my first pieces at a local art fair.

I have been producing functional pottery ever since. Flagg Pottery became an official business in 1975 after I graduated from Bradley University with an MFA in Ceramics and Sculpture. The inspiration for my work is the functionality, the spontaneity, and having strong forms of the pottery made by potters throughout history and around the world. Their pottery, made for everyday use by hands working

from years of experience, captures the essence of man’s desire to live a simple yet pleasurable life. In my work I try to honor the tradition of making genuine and simple pottery yet maintain a sense of beauty and handmade vitality. Every pot is made from one piece of clay, one pot at a time, by my hands.

Had a busy weekend and day. On Sunday we helped Jason with some projects around the house. Got his rain barrel hooked up, brought some of our hostas & sedums. Had nice cookout together with brats, hamburgers, ice cream jello, and corn. Nice day together.
Today we started a new circular planter in the front yard. Then we hauled our big rock around to make it. We still need to put another row on top to make the soil in the planter come up to 12”- 14” deep.
Hopefully we will sleep well tonight.

It has been a while since I posted here. Last year (2018) was a rough one dealing with several autoimmune issues at once. It slowed me down a lot in the studio, but since October I have been back in the studio working.

I plan on getting back to posting more photos of my work as 2019 unfolds.
If you like my work please share my posts with folks you know who love handmade stoneware pottery made 1 lump of clay at a time by me right here in the USA.
