The SECRET to Drywall Tape That NEVER Bubbles or Peels! 🛑🛠️
Now that the joints are prefilled and flat, it’s time for the most critical phase of the restoration: taping the angles. If your tape fails, the whole wall fails.
Today, I’m using Westpac’s White Dot joint compound. The secret to this mud is its heavy glue content, which makes it absolute insurance for embedding paper tape (and it doubles as a great hand texture mud later). I load the corners up with a 6-inch knife, leaving about an eighth of an inch of mud behind. Then, I center the paper, lightly glide to set it, and come back with hard pressure to lock it into the bed before skimming a thin layer over the top.
If it’s thoroughly embedded on both sides, it’s never coming off.
📺 THIS IS PART 3 OF THE RESTORATION SNEAK PEEK! The full long-form video drops soon on my YouTube channel, Walls, Explained. I’m breaking down my exact multi-angle blade work, the traps that will ruin your paint job, and the exact dollar amount I invoiced for this contract. Head over and subscribe so you don't miss the final reveal!
