My mom is an amazing athlete and one of my biggest heroes. She will compete in Ironman LakeTahoe next weekend (her third Ironman). When I competed in my first Triathlon (about two years ago) she shared a piece from Theodore Roosevelt's speech "Citizenship In A Republic." This has stuck with me as my 'pre event' mantra. I have shared it with many friends like Carlee Acevedo-Fuller (pictured below) before her first time to the CrossFit Regionals (So Cal). I've never seen someone "embrace the suck" like she did in the 100's workout. She is a fighter, a great person and another big inspiration to me. Carlee's new gym CrossFit Audeamus has some athletes competing in the Throw Down in the Valley competition and Chino Crossfit (my home gym) has Matt and Omar competing in the Competitor Dynamic Duo Comp. I figured that they needed to read this before the event. Good luck and give em hell tomorrow!
