Early mornings and long days. That is the job.

While most people are still asleep, our crew is already on site and the machines are already moving. This is what it looks like when the day starts on a job site at Duggin Construction. The sun is barely up and we are already at work shaping the ground that a community will one day be built on.

There is something about a photo like this that says everything without having to say much at all. The equipment lined up on the ridge, the sky opening up behind them, the ground already worked beneath them. This is not just a job for us. It is a craft. And it starts before the sun does.

Our crew has been hauling some spooky loads this season.

We are excited to share our limited edition Duggin Construction Halloween tee, made exclusively for our team. This year's design features a few friendly ghosts who clocked in for the night shift, running an excavator, a dump truck loaded with jack o' lanterns, and a crane lifting a bubbling cauldron under a full moon. It is a fun nod to the equipment our crew operates every day across Middle Tennessee, with a little Halloween spirit mixed in.

Not every job site gives you soft ground to work with. In fact, a lot of Middle Tennessee sits on top of solid rock, and when that is what you are dealing with, you need more than just an excavator.

This is our Soosan America JD-800EII rock drill rig, also known as the Rock Commander, and the name fits. When we hit rock on a job site that needs to be removed or broken up for excavation, underground utilities, or site grading, this machine is what we bring in. It drills precision holes into solid rock so we can blast or break it efficiently and get the ground to where it needs to be.

Rock is one of the biggest obstacles on any construction project. It slows down timelines, drives up costs, and stops a lot of contractors from being able to do the job at all. Having the right equipment on hand means we can handle it in house without subcontracting the work out and without losing time waiting on someone else to show up.

If you have been told your land is too rocky to build on or too difficult to run utilities through, we want to hear from you. Rocky ground is not a problem we walk away from. It is one we came prepared for.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Duggin Construction Co., LLC.

Today we take a moment to recognize the men and women who show up every day and do the hard work that most people never see. The ones in the trenches, behind the controls, and out in the elements making sure every job gets done right. Construction is not easy work, and the people who do it deserve to be recognized for the skill, dedication, and grit it takes to do it well.

To our crew, thank you. What you do matters more than you know. Every pipe laid, every grade cut, every utility tied in represents hours of hard work that will serve this community for decades to come. We do not take that lightly, and we do not take you for granted.

From our family to yours, we hope you get to spend today doing exactly what you love with the people who matter most.

When the ground fights back, we come prepared.

That hydraulic hammer attachment you see on the ground is not something every crew shows up with, but when you are dealing with rock it is exactly what the job calls for. Our Kobelco excavator paired with a hydraulic breaker can bust through ledge rock and hard substrate that would stop a standard dig in its tracks. It is one of the reasons we are able to work on sites that other contractors turn away.

Middle Tennessee is full of beautiful land that comes with one challenge — the rock underneath it. Whether you are putting in a driveway, a septic system, a utility line, or preparing a building pad, rock does not have to be a dealbreaker. Duggin Construction Co., LLC is proud to be an authorized retailer and installer of the Singulair Green Aerobic Wastewater Treatment System by Norweco.

If you have ever been told your land cannot support a traditional septic system, this may be the solution you have been looking for. The Singulair Green is an aerobic treatment unit, meaning it works differently than a conventional septic tank. Instead of relying solely on gravity and soil absorption, it uses a three-chamber process to treat wastewater to a much higher level before it ever reaches the ground. Pretreatment, aeration, and clarification all happen inside one single compact tank, which makes it ideal for properties where a traditional drainfield simply will not work.

If you have rocky soil, shallow bedrock, or land with poor drainage, a conventional system is often not an option. The Singulair Green was specifically designed for difficult job sites like these. Because the tank is made of high-density polyethylene and weighs less than 1,000 pounds, it can be installed with a backhoe or mini excavator without the need for heavy specialized equipment. That means we can get it in the ground on sites where other systems never could.

Stormwater Drainage

Did You Know? A construction site can move hundreds of thousands of gallons of stormwater in a single rain event.

Every development has a stormwater drainage system engineered before the first shovel hits the ground. We install underground pipes, culverts, retention basins, and drainage structures that manage where water goes during and after a storm.

The way we shape the land directly determines where rainwater flows. We grade sites to direct water away from buildings, toward designed drainage features, and off the site in a controlled way — protecting both the project and neighboring properties.

Getting drainage wrong early in a project creates problems that are expensive and disruptive to fix later. That's why our crews work closely with engineers to make sure every pipe, every slope, and every structure is placed exactly where it needs to be.

Water follows the path we create for it. Our job is to make sure that path is the right one.
