My classes were lucky to spend time today with Corporal Tarter with the and .

What does a visit from a miniature horse have to do with business? On the surface, not much. But college life can be hard! Being away from home, learning independence, and balancing full course loads takes a lot. Horses have a way of grounding us. Research shows they produce an electromagnetic field about 5x stronger than most animals, allowing them to connect with people on a heart level. And as a leader, heart work is the most important work you’ll ever do.

Today was a reminder that culture isn’t built by policies or slogans; it’s built through moments of connection. Even in business, everything doesn’t have to be so serious. You can do meaningful work and still have fun. In fact, the best cultures are usually both.

And, of course, we tied it back to marketing…because what better example of emotional engagement than Ringo showing students the many ways VTPD supports our campus community?

Had a great time this morning with a new group of local government leaders for the kickoff of the SWVA Local Government Leadership Academy fall cohort. We were missing a few today, but I’m really excited to have leaders from Montgomery County, pulaskicountyva, wythecounty and the Town of Pulaski Constititional Officers like tiffany_couch_ and these other localities are so committed to investing in their leaders, it’s incredibly inspiring.
