Since joining RGGI in 2020, Virginia has raised over $827 million, with the majority of funds going towards helping families save on energy bills and protecting communities from flooding, resulting in a 22% decrease in power plant pollution across the state.
The court's decision allows Virginia to continue addressing climate change and supporting residents in need through RGGI, despite Youngkin's plans to appeal the ruling based on his belief that the program imposes a regressive tax on Virginians.”
