We are excited to announce our TWO continuing education events for April. Both are formats we haven't attempted before and we are excited to experiment!

First, we have Dr. Julia Murphy, the state Public Health Veterinarian for Virginia, presenting "Rabies Information and Exposure Response for Animal Healthcare Practitioners in Virginia." This presentation will be in webinar format and will be held on Thursday, April 16th from 7-8pm in conjunction with the VVMA, VMRCVM, and the Virginia Department of Health. The presentation will be worth 1 hour of CE credit and is open to members of any of the above organizations. We are told that Dr. Murphy is an excellent and engaging speaker, and will be able to answer all of those "what-if" questions we ponder about rabies in our day-to-day practice. Please RSVP (https://forms.gle/DoDNbr363GJQd9XK8) by Tuesday, April 14th. Your RSVP allows us to send you the webinar link to attend as well as post-event CE certificates!

Second, Dr. Julie Settlage from Boehringer-Ingelheim will be hosting "Boundaries and Burnout," a potluck CE event at her home in Blacksburg!! Members who RSVP will be given Dr. Settlage's address at least 24 hours prior to the event so that we don't put her on blast! This event will be worth 1 hour of CE credit. The grill will turn on at 6pm and the presentation will begin at 6:45-7 on Friday, April 24th. B-I will provide hamburgers/veggie burgers, hotdogs/veggie dogs, buns, and toppings, plus beverages (including some of the "adult" variety!). We would like attending members to sign up to bring a side or dessert. Please RSVP (https://forms.gle/nKA3ipBt5YLSqd6R7) (including following the link to sign up for your dish) by Tuesday, April 21st.

Don't forget - TODAY is the last day to RSVP to this one-of-a-kind event! Sign up here: https://forms.gle/YTmi48vKWGEc2r...

It's time to start getting pumped for our fall meetings! We are excited to announce our first two topics and locations for the new year of SWVVMA.

In September, we will have our local Merck Animal Health representative visiting to talk about an exciting new parasite prevention product. We'll be at The Farmhouse, and this meeting will be fully catered!

In October, we will take a field trip to Mountain View Humane for a tour behind the scenes as well as an overview of existing and new services being offered there. The lecture topic will discuss shelter medicine and "approaching the scary spay"! The food source is TBD (and will likely be voted on by members during signup) but this meeting will also be catered!

As a reminder, each meeting is worth 1.5 hours of continuing education credit in the state of Virginia, so come on out and enjoy socializing, dinner, and fulfill part of your yearly CE requirements!

We can't wait to see you there!
