[Weird Online Entrepreneur Love Story]
"I'm sorry I can't understand you!"
"Lo siento yo no te entiendo.."
Those were the words that was often uttered by me and the young lady you see pictured to the right in the beginning stages of our courting.
I took Spanish in High School as it was a requirement in order for me to graduate, but of course like most, I allowed what I had learned to escape my mind as I didn't think it would be beneficial later on in life...
Back in 2013 I decided it was time to get back on the 'dating scene' as life was a tad bit incomplete, so I created an account on a certain dating website that I had seen being advertised on a commercial some time back..
Being an Internet Entrepreneur and often-times having no real human interaction and a staff that is overseas, like 95% of others I know in my field, my social skills were pretty jacked up at the time, so I felt the whole 'online dating' thing would be worth a shot..
Ale, the beautiful lady you see pictured with me, had a friend that was a member of this dating site as well. Although Ale didn't have an account herself, one day she was looking over the shoulders of her friend that did and uttered the words 'find me a black man' as she stated that she was always attracted to 'my kind' (haha)
. so the browsing began
Her friend pulled up my profile and suggested that she contact me by looking me up on Facebook..
I received a message in my inbox that was full of broken English so I thought to myself 'ahh another spammer'...
But instead of deleting the message right away and blocking, I went to her profile and discerned that she was actually a real person..
I replied to her message and we eventually exchanged numbers. With her living in Mexico, I knew that it would be wise to use the free or more inexpensive resources that were available for communication such as skype, whatsapp or viber..
With the first conversation we had, I immediately thought to myself that this has to end asap because I can't understand her and neither could she understand me..
Our conversation consisted of a bunch..
"what did you say?"
"I'm sorry I can't understand you.."
"no entiendo"
"como se dice?"
..and boy oh boy was it was frustrating!
Although my brain hurt after each time we talked, there was something that would not let this go and she attested the same..
Besides the physical attraction, what really kept both of us "in it" was the desire to do God's will so we didn't give up so easily..
"When are you coming to Mexico"?
This is what Ale decided to ask me after a few months of us getting to know one another...
I admit, I heard too many horror stories of kidnappings and how ruthless the cartel could be so I stalled a bit on her request...
Finally, after a few months of mustering up the courage to do so and getting confirmation from God that she was sincere, I bought a flight ticket from Dallas to Chihuahua Mexico...
The day arrived, December 18th 2013..
It was time for me to board the plane as they called my group..
With it being my first time EVER flying I'm not sure if I was nervous due to the possibility of the plane going down, the cartel spotting me or Ale being too good to be true and maybe something extremely strange happening..
As the plane ascended my stomach turned as this was foreign to my body but eventually everything was ok..
Between a quick nap, reading and looking out the window over the beautiful terrain, before I knew it an announcement came across the speakers..
"We are now preparing to land, please remain in your seat."
"Ahora estamos preparando terreno favor de permanecer en su asiento"
The nerves that were calmed from much positive thinking became irritated once again..
When the plane landed I sent Ale a message just to confirm that I have arrived..
After going through the process of obtaining my bags and other tedious steps, I was now staring at the door that the woman I've been talking with for months would be standing behind patiently waiting for me..
My heart raced as this was all foreign to me and I was a bit unsure of what awaited me behind the other side of the wall that looked as if it could use a touch-up of painting due to years of weathering..
I thought to myself..
I have God on my side so let's do this!
As the door opened I only heard language of another tongue that was uttered from the lips of many that awaited their arrivals..
I looked to the left and right but did not spot the woman I had become so familiar with over the last couple of months..
My faith was weakened and I instantly thought about all of the bad things that was probably going to happen to me..
I reached for my phone as my mind went into survival mode and as I looked back up I seen a woman that stood about 5'11" with a skin tone and smile that put me in a daze that was unexplainable..
"Como estas?"
.were the words she greeted me with along with a hug that was borderline friendly due to the fact that even though we had "talked" for awhile, things were not "official" yet..
As we left the airport with many butterflies in our stomach, we asked each other..
"Is this real?"
. and playfully pinched one another to make sure it wasn't a dream.
When we arrived to her home, I had a warm greeting from her mother that asked if she could touch my skin because of the rarity of an African American being in those parts and better yet, her home..
In approximately 20 minutes an authentic Mexican dish was prepared for me and boy was I ravished..
I wasn't sure if it was due to my hunger or how good the food was that had been delicately prepared for my taste buds, but all I know is I left no fragments to be thrown away and only a plate that could have been placed in the sink immediately..
After eating, meeting with her family and a few other activities, she finally took me to the Hotel that I would be staying in...
As I sat on my bed that night, a slight smirk came over my face as I thought back on how worried I actually was prior to meeting Ale face to face...
Anyways, the days that were booked for me to stay weren't many as I had to make it back home before Christmas, but it was definitely enough time for me and Ale to do many things and to know one another even more...
The bond was strengthened and although I hesitated my first arrival to Mexico, I now dreaded having to leave..
As the day came for me to return back to the U.S I had nothing else in mind but " 'I'm going to marry this woman "..
Of course not wanting to do anything too sudden, I consulted with God and allowed some time to pass before making such a big move..
When the confirmation was received that this young lady would be my wife, I made a trip to Zales and found the most pretty ring I could that would look astonishing on her finger and would be brought out by the softness of her skin complexion..
Some time afterwards, I returned to meet again with the woman that would eventually be called my wife...
Pretty cool story huh?
What's even more cool is that NONE of this wouldn't have been possible without having online business that was running on complete autopilot while I decided to country hop and play Romeo..
Now maybe you're not looking to go and find a woman or man of your dreams in a different country, BUT one thing you should always fight for is your FREEDOM to do what i is that your heart desires and in this day & age having an online business is something that will give you just that..
