Acorn Works Do call ahead for appointments so that I am sure to be there! Now open daily 9am to 3pm, weekends by appointment only. Have questions?

After much planning and building (on my husband's part), Acorn Works Fiber Processing has come to be in our garage. Your fibers will get the personalized attention they deserve as I wash, pick (to open the locks) and card into roving or batts. The roving coming off the carder is just the best I've ever spun with...almost effortless! Want something that isn't listed? Not sure what type of wool you have? Call me, Diane Seely, or email me and we'll work it out together!

Static continues to be an issue to be worked around. Any time the temperature outside drops below 20F, the humidifier struggles a bit. Let's just say that I am filling the tank twice a day to keep up. Spraying fiber with a bit of water on its way in also helps.

Today (and tomorrow) will be all about cleaning/maintaining the carder. Main drum gets picked over with a dental pick, all rollers get a review to make sure nothing is stuck to them, all grease fittings/shafts get de-fuzzed, all gears get de-fuzzed and, finally, all bearings get a good dose of grease. A manicure is out of the question!
