Truth and love actually pair together really well. When fear rules, we’re inclined to manipulate to control narratives and that is a road to anxiety, worry, and offense. Clarity isn’t just kindness, it’s honesty beautifully paired with love, it’s also really possible.

Coaching is super helpful to help you wrap your head and heart around your next steps.

Sometimes, there has to be a detour, a pause, to heal first.

"The absence of an empathetic witness".

That just sounds lonely. If that's you, I'm so sorry. There is an empathetic witness, though. Understanding how He is still good, in the midst of deep pain, challenges the legitimate hurt, disorientation, and long-term effects of harm. What if, though? What if it's possible that God is still, somehow, good?

As a pastor/life coach, I can discuss and explore these things with you. But know this, too: there may be things where a different type of help is needed. It may be that there is someone else who can help more. We can discuss that too!

I love Ken Coleman's content! He's worth the follow! This is so interesting and frankly hit home. Learning the impact of our perception of not only ourselves, but also the assumptions we make of what others will do or think of us based on our own baggage, that they may not even see, can actually hinder our progress and relationships.

Self-Awareness is an ongoing journey, learning how we interpret people and interactions and why we interpret things the way we do can lead us into healthier mindsets and encourage honesty, TRUST, and health in our relationships!

Pausing to speak to formulate worthy statements serves others well and lets you walk away from conversations confident. It's not about being fake or performing your responses, it's about thinking it through to produce the most value for others.

Let us speak & respond in ways worthy of being quoted & emulated. Regret has a long shelf life.

"I'm not ready to forgive". It's a common statement I've heard many times. I get it, you've been wronged, you're hurt, and forgiving them feels like you're letting them off the hook. It feels unjust.

Our feelings are terrible at leading, especially if we value wisdom. You can choose to forgive, even if you don't "feel it". You may need to do it daily. God will help your heart to catch up.

Choosing forgiveness is more about letting go of the burden of justice, which you can't control, and allowing God to heal your heart. Jesus knows what it is to forgive those who don't deserve it (hint: that's you and me). He doesn't take your hurt lightly.

So good!! And this is why faith in Christ should be a part of mental health...

“psychopathology” is a derivative of three Greek words: ψυχή (psychē), πάθος (pathos) and λόγος (logos)—which translated literally would be something like “soul suffering study.”

Modern psychopathology, as defined above by the APA, has a more reductionistic focus limited to the study of “mind, mood and behavior.”

It is our belief that the task of Christians in the mental health fields and pastoral ministry is to think more holistically about human suffering and to integrate the understandings of classic Christian literature with that of contemporary research and practice in psychopathology. We believe that the history of pastoral care provides us with insights into the human condition that predate contemporary psychology and specific theories of psychopathology."
