HYDRANT TESTING & FLUSHING STARTING IN SEPTEMBER!

The Cimarron Fire Department will begin routine fire hydrant testing and flushing throughout the community in September.

This testing is an important part of ensuring our hydrants are working properly and ready to provide the water flow needed during an emergency.

Residents may see water flowing from hydrants and could experience temporary water discoloration during testing.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep Cimarron prepared!

This morning at approximately 1:40 AM, fire units from the Montezuma KS Fire Department and Cimarron Fire Department responded to Pride Ag in Ensign for the report of an anhydrous ammonia leak.

Upon arrival, crews completed a scene size-up and determined the leak was limited to a single tank. Fire personnel were able to safely close the valve on the tank and mitigate the issue.

We appreciate the quick response and teamwork of all personnel involved in bringing this incident to a safe resolution.

A Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather is in place for today across central and southwest Kansas. The chances for storms actually occurring are low, given forecast guidance is also uncertain. So confidence is low, but if storms can develop, they could be severe.
