Color combinations including offsets can be used effectively for branding. Our logo for Jumpstart Innovation uses red, black and white.

We like the colors on the locomotives for the former New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad. We also like the new "Cincy" logo on the helmets for the UC Bearcats!

STACK IT!!...like a Norfolk Southern intermodal train heading north out of Cincinnati! 😊 Note: notice the cool logos on the front and side of the lead locomotive!

This train would be a lot longer (it was already 90+ cars) if the containers weren't stacked. This reduces freight costs and the length of the train by having two containers on top of the same car.

Similarly, "stacking" a logo in the square space provided for a LinkedIn pages can be more visually impactful and better for branding. After all, what's the point if you can barely see a logo or read it? This is especially true when viewing logos using the LinkedIn app.

Lengthy logos often work well in the "banner" part of a LinkedIn page, but make the font size smaller when packed into a limited square space.

Don't worry, this is a short video (not the whole train). The other lesson learned... if you creatively park near the railroad tracks, expect a train!! 😊

IT'S A SIGN!!...to stop time wasting habits on LinkedIn and social media in general.

There's a balance between being flexible (adaptable) and taking too many detours (rabbit holes).

I liked the familiar quote from Donny Deutch's former TV show, The Big Idea, "There's got to be a better way!" The show had great examples.

Similarly if something isn't working or sucking up large amounts of time, consider the following:

❌ STOP. Quit what isn't working.
➡️ Assess. What is happening and why.
➡️ Pivot. Be strategic. Act on changes need to stay focused.
➡️ Innovate. Is there a better way? Accelerate results.

I was taking too many screenshots on LinkedIn creating a backlog of photos on my iPhone. I've cleared this out and now "use it or lose it" (implement or delete) as a forced way to avoid ideas pilling up on my cellphone (or my PC).

Good luck killing a few of your time wasters... starting today!! 😊

BE DIRECT!! (on LinkedIn)...like this short line Cincinnati Eastern Railroad (CCET) and avoid time wasting rabbit holes.

Ironically, one of those rabbit holes is video. They are becoming more like clickbait as LinkedIn piles them into our feed. This seems especially true on the mobile app.

Of course, it's not just video. A little selectivity helps or you may be watching for a while. The same applies to reels and video on Facebook.

Here are some suggestions to save time...

➡️ Have a strategy for LinkedIn - then stick too it. Avoid detours.
➡️ Set specific objectives - then do them, starting with the most important.
➡️ State what you do in the first 3 lines of the ABOUT section.
➡️ Watch videos selectively. Check to see how long they are.
➡️ Screenshot important info - then take action! Don't let it sit.
➡️ Find ways to be proactive on LinkedIn. Info is useful when used.
➡️ Re-calibrate your strategy and objectives periodically for better results.

STAY CURIOUS!!...on LinkedIn. Things often change without notice - or don't show for a reason.

This is me "noticing" an Illinois and Ohio Railroad locomotive tucked around the corner as I drove by Lunken Airport in Cincinnati. It was worth getting "up close." These GE engines are enormous!

There isn't a lot of freight traffic on this line so you don't see this train often. The GE locomotive shows off the unique and recognizable colors scheme of the parent company - Genesee & Wyoming Inc., which owns or leases more than 100 freight railroads thoughout North American. They also operate over 13,000 miles of track.

One thing Jumpstart Innovation (JSIN) has "noticed" is there are many people that list their high school under Education on their LinkedIn profile, but the logo doesn't show. Or it's the wrong logo.

Most of the time this isn't the fault of the person listing their high school. Their high school page is either set up incorrectly or isn't set up at all. We can help!

One reason that often isn't discussed is the difference between a "company page" and a "school page." If a LinkedIn page is set as a "company", it won't show the logo (or link) when listed on an individual profile under "Education."

There is a fix. Contact us to learn how a company page can be converted to a "school" - and you'll have a lot of happy students and alumni!! It's good for school loyalty and branding too! 😊
