Today is a bittersweet day at Matrix as our team sends off Jessica Esterkamp on her new adventure. After several years working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati (BBBSGC) on the executive board, executive and recruitment committees, and with the close relationships Jessica has created with their staff and board members, it’s no surprise that BBBSGC has named Jessica as chief executive officer of their organization.
For the past 18+ years, Jessica has been a leader, mentor, and friend to all of us at Matrix. Her presence can be felt from the décor on the walls to the people she’s served, which is all of us. Jessica has many talents, and one thing that stood her out as a leader is that she’s never been hesitant about sharing any of them with us. From introducing our team to the enneagram, hosting numerous development trainings like writing skills/communication (a staff favorite), taking time to take our headshots and making us feel beautiful and comfortable while doing them, giving us life advice and supporting our families, creating activities and wellness initiatives, recognizing our skills and putting us in the right career spots… the list goes on. All these things contribute to our Best Places work culture and core values. Jessica is never afraid to get her hands dirty, provide us with honest feedback, laugh with us, cry with us, or break a sweat from dancing just to entertain us in epic Halloween skits. Her transparency and support is one of a kind and will be missed dearly. Jessica is a true example of a leader, promoting and encouraging all of us to be the best versions of ourselves and we are forever grateful.
Jessica, thank you for improving our lives with all the little and big things that you’ve done daily for each of us. Although we may not see you physically as often as we wish, we know that you will forever be embedded in our Matrix hearts and the decisions we make. We love you and look forward to our continued relationship with BBBSGC as you lead the way there, congratulations - you will be missed!
p.s. Thank you for letting us celebrate you last week- we had a blast sending you off in true “Matrix” style.
