In Another Somersault: On Becoming, Part III, Meghan reflects on the courage it takes to keep evolving. Growth is not always clean or comfortable. It can disrupt old identities, change relationships, and ask us to release versions of ourselves that once helped us survive. This piece explores the “somersault” of becoming: the in-between space where we are no longer who we were, not yet fully who we are becoming, and learning to trust that something more whole is emerging.

Fear shows up in leadership in subtle ways.

Not always as hesitation, but as defensiveness.
As over-explaining.
As avoiding the harder conversation.
As holding tightly to being “right.”

And often, it’s rooted in something deeper than the moment itself.

When we’re inwardly focused by protecting our image, our certainty, or our position, we lose access to the very things that build trust:
ownership, honesty, and the willingness to see what’s actually there.

Strong leadership isn’t about eliminating fear.
It’s about recognizing how it shapes our behavior and choosing a different response.

That’s where clarity begins.
And where real impact is built.

It was a great time attending the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner last night. We are honored to have been nominated for small business of the year.
