No cuts, no music — just raw CCTV from a Pentastar Aviation hangar, highlighting what the robots are doing.

A customer asked for a real test: push the aircraft toward a hangar with the doors closed, and see whether the robots catch it.

Two GroundWatch robots took the wingtip positions and stayed with the aircraft all the way across the ramp — avoiding a person walking right beside them without ever losing the wing. As the tail closed in on the hangar, the robots called the stop. The tug operator stopped.

That’s the whole video. A tow that ended exactly where it should have.

Boring is the goal. That’s what robotic wingwalking looks like when it’s working.

Wingwalking starts before the aircraft moves.

Before GroundWatch takes a wingwalking position, the robot scans the aircraft and builds an aircraft-specific model — wings, engines, fuselage, tail, etc. It doesn’t just detect “an aircraft.” It understands this aircraft.

Because that model comes from the scan itself, GroundWatch is aircraft-agnostic. Managed or transient, familiar type or first visit — the robot understands whatever is in front of it.

Wingwalking positions are computed from that model, and the robots move into position — working alongside the line techs on the ramp.

Scan. Understand. Move into position. That’s what the video shows.

For us, it’s a core piece of building AIRTREK GROUNDWATCH into robotic wingwalking for real FBO operations — where you don’t get to choose what lands on your ramp.

Excited to share that Airtrek Robotics has been selected for the FLITE program at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR). ✈️🤖

This season, we’ll be piloting a proof-of-concept (POC) for our autonomous wingwalking technology—demonstrating it in a real-world FBO environment and working with Avflight, a leading FBO with a national network, as we evaluate performance in day-to-day operations.
