January 26, 2026– IRS E-File Opens
This is when the IRS officially begins accepting tax returns.
Once your return is filed and accepted, you can usually start checking your status within about 24 hours.
🗓️February 15 – PATH Act Release Date
If you’re claiming:
• Earned Income Credit (EIC)
• Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)
Here’s the truth 👇🏽
Even if your return is accepted early, the IRS cannot issue refunds with these credits before mid-February.
That delay is federal law — not your tax preparer holding your money.
📊 EIC income limits & maximum credits
If you fall within these ranges, expect your refund timing to follow PATH Act rules.
💡 Why filing early still matters
Early filing = you’re already in line.
So once the PATH Act lifts, your refund can move without delay.
📩 Bottom line:
Don’t guess. Don’t assume. Don’t listen to internet rumors.
Ask YOUR tax professional who actually knows the rules. DO NOT QUICK QUESTION ME IF I DO NOT FILE YOUR RETURN.
