🚁 Ground School Safety Training with Mercy Flight of WNY 🚁
This past week, members of the Clarence Fire Department joined our mutual aid partners from Harris Hill Fire Co. and Clarence Center Fire Co. for a ground school safety course hosted by Mercy Flight of Western New York.
This hands-on training covered helicopter landing zone safety, proper approach procedures, and how ground crews and flight crews work together to ensure a safe and efficient scene when Mercy Flight responds to help save lives in our community.
Training like this strengthens the coordination between our departments and Mercy Flight, so when seconds count, our crews are ready to work safely and efficiently together.
Thank you to the Mercy Flight of WNY team for the excellent instruction, and to our friends at Harris Hill Fire Co. and Clarence Center Fire Company for training alongside us! 🚒🧑‍🚒

🎉 Congratulations to our very own Mackenzie Rider-Work! 🚒🔥
We are so proud to celebrate Mackenzie Rider-Work — 2nd Assistant Chief of the Clarence Fire Company and firefighter with the Medina Fire Department — on his graduation from the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls!
Mackenzie was one of just 25 graduates in the latest recruit class, completing a rigorous 15-week residential program that included more than 600 hours of training in both classroom and practical settings. The program covered structural, vehicle and flammable liquid firefighting, emergency vehicle operations, hazardous materials response, and basic rescue technician operations — all while maintaining daily physical fitness training.
Upon graduation, Mackenzie earned national certifications in Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Hazardous Materials Operations through the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
To accomplish all of this while serving as 2nd Assistant Chief speaks volumes about his dedication, discipline, and passion for public safety. The fire service is lucky to have you — stay safe out there, Chief Rider-Work! 👏🏼🚨

This week, the Clarence Fire Department is proud to honor and celebrate our incredible EMS professionals — the EMTs who answer the call day and night, holidays and weekends, in rain, snow, and everything in between.

This year's theme, "Improving Outcomes, Together," reflects exactly what our team does every single day — working side by side with 911 dispatchers, hospitals, law enforcement, and our community to deliver the best possible care when it matters most.

To our dedicated EMS crew: your compassion, skill, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed. You show up when people need help the most, and this community is safer and stronger because of you.

This past week, members of the Clarence Fire Department took part in a “Man vs. Machine” drill 💪🔥

The hands-on training gave our firefighters the chance to work with a wide variety of hand tools and learn when and how to use each one. Drills like this help keep our members sharp, safe, and ready to serve when it matters most.
