Church for Cops is a leadership training concept for law enforcement personnel. It is based on decades of working in the industry and interacting with thousands of police employees in my classes from across the United States. The concept of Church for Cops was born in Bossier City Louisiana during a class when a student raised his hand and said, "Ron, this stuff is like Church for Cops!" What he
meant was, we need to be better at delivering simple concepts of humanity that we all suck at yet believe we do not. Having lots of time to think, interact and journal on airplanes and in airports and hotels, while continuously learning from those working in one of the most difficult professions on the planet, I created a class that I thought would be helpful in giving police personnel the mental resiliency to manage their own headspace through the daily challenges they face. The thought is this; cops who are burned out from the stressors of the job are harmful to themselves, their families, everyone around them, their organizations, and the communities they serve. I can relate as I was one of those burned out cops. Lots of people preach leadership. Few realize they suck at it including me. Yet most will point to how others around them lack it. Leadership in law enforcement is very poorly rated which means we suck more than most. If you have been in my class you have heard my professional mission statement of "doing something today to make policing in America better than yesterday through the attendees of my classes." I believe in that and I will continue to do that even with critics and detractors as long as I can. It is my working passion.
