Happy Mother’s Day 💐💐💐
In 2026, we mark the 112th official celebration of Mother's Day as a U.S. national holiday!
Established in 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson, Mother's Day was championed by Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honor the sacrifices mothers make for their children. Ironically, Jarvis later criticized the commercialization of the holiday—but by then, the tradition had firmly taken root.
Though celebrated nationwide, Mother’s Day takes on unique local flavors across the country:
🌺 Hawaii: Many families honor moms with a beautiful lei, a garland made of fragrant native flowers—a symbol of affection and aloha.
🍰 Tennessee: Cities and towns host special Mother’s Day brunches, offering classic Southern dishes like biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, and peach cobbler.
🚶♀️ New York: The Mother’s Day Walk continues to raise vital funds for breast cancer research, combining family bonding with community impact.
🔥 Texas: Families gather for festive backyard barbecues, serving up brisket, ribs, and all the fixings while celebrating the matriarchs of the family.
🐋 Alaska: Many take to the sea for whale watching tours, creating unforgettable moments with Mom against a stunning natural backdrop.
