One of the first things I did after building my shop was to install graphics on the roll up door. If you know me, you know that I'm big into Transformers, so I chose a dynamic screen grab from the cartoon movie to use as the door graphics. I was quite happy with how it looked for a long time.
Printed vinyl is just thin plastic and only meant to last about 6 years in direct sunlight, UV laminated with clear vinyl overtop.
This lasted about 9-10 years before fading and just this last year started pulling up and beginning to crumble. No complaints on how long it lasted, but it was looking a bit too shabby for the door of a sign shop. So I replaced it.
This time, instead of installing the graphics directly to the door and conforming into the detail of the panels, I ordered 3mm ACM and applied the graphics to the panels, and then attached the panels to the door. Looks so much better completely flat and smooth than the original cartoon image wrapped on the door did.

As a favor, my friend asked me to bring in his teenage daughter who's a design student at GCIT to learn about real world design work on Fridays during the summer. Trouble is that summer is generally my slower period. I'll have production table work for her to learn and do, but as far as designing, not so much. Rather than give her some busy work fictitious company to work on, I'm asking if anyone that has a business would like to have a logo created for free, to give her some practice.
