Shadows in the Squares is a story of entitlement and the privileges of a select group of aristocrats, who are anxious about the influx of outsiders into their community. They open themselves up to the seduction and manipulation of a corrupt smuggler, Colonel Richard Dunlevy, a wealthy South African arms dealer who uses them for his personal gains. Through his nefarious works, a New York developer is murdered.

Storms begin when Barnes Jacsaint, a retired British agent, retires to Georgia’s coast and meets Abigail Grant, an attractive widow. Only her faith and influence as the quintessential Southern lady with her gifted and beautiful Nease can turn the tide from evil to good in this fast-paced and suspenseful thriller.

The setting, set in Savannah, Georgia, captures the essence of beauty and romance in this unique bastion of Southern architecture, tradition, and culture.

Writing fiction is an endless experiment. It becomes a context rich story that creates a journey with no end or limits along the way, where imagination transforms into our own realities.

As a writer, I draw from deep wells of experience to shape my imagination to mold into a story. My story must be interesting, authentic and captivating. I find that my stories constantly evolve until I am satisfied that the narratives are woven perfectly into the treads of chapters that make up the fabric of the book.

I strive to ensure that chapter after chapter blend together to lead the reader on a fascinating voyage they do not want to end.

John B Edwards author of “Sunlight over the Marshes” has just released his second novel, “Darkness under the Oaks.”
The story is set in Savannah and Statesboro during the late 70’s. Darkness under the Oaks is a tour de force thriller that combines an intricately, meticulously composed plot with a vital sense of placemaking. The book accents law enforcement, organized crime, Southern culture, and Christian doctrine. The original combination makes for a fulfilling, enriching, and delightfully unexpected read.
